New to the M club!

Hi!
After an almost 20 year plan in the works, I finally jumped in and took delivery of my Laguna Seca Blue '18 M3 with competition package last week from BMW Seattle (Thanks Karl!). Bucket list item checked. Only wished it was a ED we were planning for next year's Oktoberfest but it is still as good

Short weekend and it's been as fun as I've hoped it would be. Hopefully I'll see you guys at some meets in my bone stock car

With fall about to kick in (yeah I know one should not mention the incoming dreary winter in Seattle until October at least), I'm wondering what tires other members here use during the cold'ish weather. The 20" OEM tires are summer tires and while we don't get snow much here, we do dip below 45F in the mornings and through the night. Do y'all use a second set of all seasons/snow or just run with the OEM summers?

Thanks!
DC

p/s - I did a quick search but didn't find a thread about this (or at least my search foo was not strong enough to find it).

Thanks y'all!
Yeah BMW Seattle had 3 LSB come in. I snagged the first one before they even got the paperwork done I was debating between Imola Red and Grigio Telestio at first. Grigio lost out because I was afraid of the white interior. It'll be dirty in no time with me driving it Imola was very tempting, but the speed trap daemon is too much of a risk for me. Saturday I hit way past the speed limit but under the 100mph break in max without even trying. Noticed it after I passed a state trooper but he didn't come after me. That would have been a crazy ticket. They will be getting an Avus Blue and a few other individual colors in a couple of weeks I think. All the new ones coming are individual colors.

When it snows, the baby is definitely staying in the garage. I'm hoping to be able to drive it when it's not freezing out though. Most days Seattle is in the low 50s throughout the day except for overnight. Grrr... I guess I'll enjoy it till then and finish the break in when spring comes along

Welcome! As for tires, I would just drive he factory tires all year long while carrying some sno sox (like snow chains). I think the PSS’s are excellent in the wet!

For a $70K car, this thing sure squeak and rattle a lot! There's something inside the dash (behind the middle vents) that sounds like plastic hitting plastic, driver door center has a light rattle, seats squeak (front and back) and the doors make some sort of rubbing noise. They sure don't make BMWs like they used to! My E92 didn't develop these noises until year 2!!!

Now I'm noticing the HUD is out of focus. It's as if it's focused a little too much to bottom left. If I move my head to the right and look slightly down, it is clear but in normal driving position, not so much.

Is this common to all the F80s made? One would have thought that by the end of production, all these issues would have been resolved already!!!

/endrant

Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Not exactly the first week I envisioned

I’m not exactly sure about the “rattles” but the sequels are definitely normal. I’m on my 2nd F80 and both cars developed these squeaks within 5k miles. Fortunately it is covered under warrantee. they’ll grease up the squeaks and have you on your way!

As for the HUD, you should be able to adjust it in your i-drive. I know you can adjust it for height but not 100% sure on side to side, i would imagine you can.

No, the only adjustments are rotation (helps with polarized sunglasses) and height. I looked at it in more detail today, I think part of it is the curvature of the glass. Different angles gives different degrees of sharpness. It's hard to explain unfortunately without seeing it close.

Which shop did you go to for the PPF?

Thanks.

I had it done in Vancouver by a family friend starting his own thing after leaving a current commercial shop. He's not commercial at this point but testing out the waters before fully committing to striking out on his own.

damn - I'm heading in to see Karl on Saturday for this specific car. Is there anybody on the forum that can speak to the staining of the leather? I have to imagine with regular leather treatment that any blue jean color transfer, or other staining can be avoided pretty easily.
