Ybbiz34... Thank you for the very thorough review. I've never driven a C63, but your comparisons are valuable to me none-the-less

Nice writing! It's too bad that some of the professional car reviewers can't write this well.

getting engaged instead, m3 on hold for 6-12 months. depending on my patience level with cars, which is typically about as low as humanly possible haha.

especially after reading great reviews like this one

Review is great from perspective of an AMG owner. Thank you. I think the artificial feeling you mention in the steering might actually be the adaptive suspension dampening the car to handle the bumpy section of road. In the purist sense of the word yes it is artificial but in this case its a good thing. One thing I didn't get to try in europe that I will get to test quite thoroughly in the US is how the adaptives handle long ruts in the road that cause tramlining. I'm hoping i can linearly move across them now. Thats my hunch.

Awesome review! I really appreciate your perspective.

The only thought going through my mind after reading your review is "I NEED THIS! SHOULD I PUT MY LIFE AND MY SAFETY AT RISK AND DRIVE AN M3 WITH SNOW TIRES IN NEW ENGLAND WINTERS?" The answer coming back seems to always be yes!

I'm right with you in thinking the e92 M3 was a poor daily driver. Really, it is. Anything under 4,000 RPM and you may as well be driving a 328i. This has always been my position, not only recently. Frankly, I always thought it was an over hyped M car, and when I finally got one my suspicions were confirmed. The V8 did sound fantastic though.

I am sure no matter how good we think the stock f80 exhaust is, it will become poopoo-ed on once the M performance is released. No questions. Jokes will be made about it in volumes. But you are free to think it sounds "nice" until then.

You and Karusell did such an amazing job reviewing these cars. I will say I have to absolutely agree with everything you said, apart from the seats. I think the E9x and F80/2 seats are just as good as each other. I don't use the bottom extenders anyway, so it was a non issue for me.

The sound was what impressed me. I went in thinking it was going to sound OK at best, but ended up really liking it. It's no V8, but it's got it's own character. If only the people knocking this car would stop looking at Youtube videos and go try the car out themselves, I'm sure half of them would change their minds.

I decided to keep the E92. I'm too attached to it, put so much into mods, and it's been well maintained. I'm going to hold steady until the F80 LCI with ZCP comes out.

Thanks again for such a well written review!

Bah, skip the wedding, and throw the savings towards car and honeymoon!

The car will be a better car in a year from now, so nothing wrong with waiting.

all these things cost money

-engagement ring
-helping pay for wedding

It would have been financially irresponsible for me to buy a brand new car at this time when I have other potential expenses, and want to make life as stress free for myself and my SO.

anyway, this is wayyyyy off topic, so sorry ybbiz

Spy, it can be done as everything in the world, but I just find something else to bitch about. See this is how it works: I find something I don't like, and concentrate on that. That will drive me insane, but at least people in the car will learn new words. I usually do my rage on the language of the recipient, so the in the month off I'm taking, anyone would learn German.

I read the OP's review again, with coffee and I have to say on this forum there are only a hand full writers who could hold my interest even for a minute. I hope he sticks to his day job, since if he wrote more I would waste too much time here reading it.

@finnishjoe this is the thread I mentioned on the wall.

My E93 M3 was disappointing to me as well. I liked it, but didn't love it. I just had a hard time getting used to a V-8 needing to be driven like a motorcycle to have fun.

Added weight didn't help, I had a Comp package coupe with carbon roof/manual seats, 6spd.

It was nice, but wasn't blown away. I personally wasn't a fan of wringing the car out to get power. On the street, just not that fun imho.

Agreed, you need to keep the revs up in the E9x to fully enjoy the car. I guess I can see how some people wouldn't like that.

I induced power oversteer a few times (which is insanely easy to do because of the mountains of torque) and it is very, very easy to control the car and reign the rear end back in. The car responds predictably and doesn't snap back with as much violence as the C63 does.

Great review, thanks for taking the time to do so.

Which suspension did you have - the active suspension or the static suspension? If active, which mode did you have it in? If static, do you think it would be too harsh for daily driving? I didn't order the active suspension and I'm wondering if I should have... (too late to change order)

Good point. You absolutely could be right there. The steering on both cars is an absolute joy. You can't go wrong with either choice. I say it all the time but when it comes to the recent M and AMG offerings, you really cannot go wrong. Each manufacturer is on the top of its game.

Thanks man! My C63 just made it through one of the worst winters in my State's history on a square 225-section setup. With top notch winter tires and a judicious right foot, I think you will be just fine! Of course, it always helps having an AWD option around as a back-up.

The F80/F82 will shine as a daily driver. There are just heaps and heaps of torque on tap.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

I loved the E92 M3. I almost ended up with the Lime Rock Park Edition myself, before ultimately choosing the C63. The E92's exterior design is timeless. I actually still prefer the E92's rear to the F82's (sans M Performance diffuser and exhaust).

Thank you. This particular car had the active suspension. It worked brilliantly. I'll have to get back to you regarding the mode. The CA was playing around with the suspension settings as I was driving. I was in the zone once I switched over to M mode haha.
