Did the crank hub issue ever get fixed?

In market for a used M3/M4 2016+

Did they fix the crank hub issue and if not how much does it usually cost to go ahead and get it done for preemptive measures. What brand kit?

Also any other issues I should look out for or be ready for

I honestly have no idea and dont think anyone else does either. But in the scheme of things it appears to be a very small percentage and very rare occurrence.

a guy posted on youtube said it happens when he back up from his garage. he was driving hard the day before.

Spun hub concerns aren't anywhere near the problem rod bearings have been on previous ///M motors. Rod bearings are essentially considered routine maintenance now on quite a few ///M motors of the past.

I think the F8X cars are proving themselves to be incredibly reliable, far more than ///M cars of the past. The SCH just doesn't seem to be that big of an issue, what I think worries people is that there just doesn't seem to be anyway to predict what cars will be effected.

Some other failures for those that have been around for a while:

- Rod bearings on S85
- SMG pump failures on e46/E60
- Throttle actuators on E9x M3/e60 M5
- Rod bearings on e46
- Subframe recall on e46
- Nikasil block issues on e34

...............the list goes on. You can fix it and move on, or wait to hear anything from BMW. Since we're winding down to the end of F8x production, I doubt we'll see anything.

Would you all say that a M6 has a more reliable engine compared to the M3/M4?
It's not about can I afford to fix it its about choosing the best option and in the 4 years the C43 has been out which is what I currently have, I have yet to hear of anything real catastrophic on the benz forums.
Only problem is best times are mid 11s with a full bolt on and JB4

I want to be low low 11s if not high 10s

If you only want a faster straight car, yes m6 is better and with bm3 stage1 or 2 you can get about 630-650hp. It was my top pick before m4 lci. Also m6 has limited mod unlike f8x. One of the reason I ditched my e63 m6.

However for the price of m6 you can get a new m5 which is low 11 high 10

I have mine pretty done up and after all this I have no issues with the crank hub, but... I keep hearing around me to upgrade it. Opinions are so many. Although most issues you'll find on forum are to the S55's engines that have the PureTurbos

So the solution really is to replace it even if it's not an issue now? Thanks

So you're saying the opposite of the guy kinda at the top that said the crank hub isnt technically an issue?
Sounds like % wise its kinda up there compared to the norm

i am saying crank hub spun happens on stock car too. maybe low % but it does happen. just like top mount charge cooler leak.

there are ppl with E85 and ps2+ blow his engine but doesnt have this issue. and there is stock car driving normal then spun.
