Insane doesn't sell Cbc's mainly because I was told they do not work however I remember reading they upgraded the bolts a few years back. From what I can tell the bolts seems to be from a german manufacturer wurth.
"This kit includes all the necessary components to successfully replace the stock OEM crank hub with our single piece crank hub. Our kit now includes Hardened crankshaft damper bolts at no additional charge." https://insanecrankhub.com/products/...iece-crank-hub Seems like there are a lot of crank hub products popping up on the market these days because everyone is trying to save a few bucks and manufacturers are cutting corners to hit these markets . I'm all for saving money on products but this is not the part to cheap out on. |

So what is the common consensus now with this? I had mine installed about 3 years ago, bolts seem to be rusted but none have sheared off. Tempted to just remove the thing and have shop put back the stock bolts.

I wonder if the issue is only in conjunction with a upgraded crank hub. I have the 2 pin solid design and I am seeing signs of movement with the cbc

VTT response is hilarious... But I guess they rather just say "you installed your 8 BOLTS wrong" instead of saying "some of our products are shit".
This product is pure GARBAGE I had this installed years ago before my hub was done and it still spun. When I had my new hub and engine rebuilt the shop must have seen this and put it back on but I will NEVER recommend this or any Vargas product to anyone. |

Vargas is absolute dog shit for saying not to believe what you read online when you’re literally messaging them also online about same said matter. The fact that there are people here with actual photo evidence and their BS that they’re “innovators”, I haven’t sat and read such nonsense like this in a long time. Sales@vargasturbotech come through, I’m calling you out now.

Is there a way to check the CBC without taking bits off the car? Maybe with an inspection camera? I have the EEP one which is more common here.
I never even considered going VTT because of horror stories with them being utter dogshit in everything they do. I also remember coming across very similar failures on N54's with Vargas CBC's. This is what the EEP ones look like (not my pic, just from the internet) Last edited by x_; 08-08-2023 at 12:57 AM.. |

In any case, I'll have a quick look one of these days and try to take a picture if I can get to it without taking parts off the car. |

I have a conversation on FB with another individual regarding Wurth which is where I got my fastener knowledge and still friends with their director of quality who hired me. I still work in the OEM supply base and a few of my co-workers used to work for Schaeffler here in town. Keep in mind that when they "supply" some of these companies it could include things like shelves, door, desks, etc, that are NOT used in their actual products. I've seen it happen.
In working for Wurth I will tell you though that I have seen MANY MANY base metal and plating material certs (certifying their material) from China/Taiwan that were completely unreadable due to being copied so many times and the date was clear as ever. As if this wasn't evident they were trying to cheat. I approved PPAPs for their products coming in and going out. Chinese suppliers all know their products are crap. This is what got Takata... Wurth started out as a reseller and then got into making their own in...CHINA. Yes they have good products but playing in the OEM supply base is VERY difficult to make a profit which is why they went to China. When I was hired to help Wurth N.A. supply the OE market I did but the controversy of China vs OE requirements was the reason I left after two years. |

Im going to check mine from time to time but i wont dare try to remove them to replace... There is gonna be a higher chance to shearing them during removal... Ill cross that road if i find a bolt head sheared off... I did my own install, used red loctite and torqued them to spec. I think it was around 25lbs. For all we know, the installers of some of the failures could have torqued them down more than they shouldve. |
