You need a couple of initial applications, then the need to reapply should become less frequent: at least, that was my experience with the E46.

On the M4, I applied some when I brought the car home and had to do another application a few weeks ago at around 4,500 miles.

I drove over some crappy roads over the weekend and discovered a new rattle coming from central area of the dash. I thought possibly the A/C Vents or the dome light area. Tried the A/C vent fix but that didn't do anything and pushing on the dome light assembly didn't quiet the noise.

Found out the rattle was coming from a module under the rear view mirror cover. I believe it has something to do with the high beam assist and forward collision alert system. When I push on it, the rattle goes away.

Since I might need that part swapped out, I'm planning to just relay the info to my service advisor and have them fix it.

Just thought I'd share this finding for those that might have a stubborn center area rattle that you haven't been able to find.

I taped each rubber seal one at a time so I can figure out which one was creaking. I can confirm its the outer door seal that rubs against the trim.

I have one that seems to be coming from the fron dash to the left of the steering wheel. Any ideas?

Other than that I need to fix the door seals. They creak like mad when I go in an out of driveways etc. Insane!
On the door seals should i use gummi or the synthetic grease?

Gummi works great on the outer "hard" door seals for those roof/pillar creaks.

I have that too, couldn't pinpoint it. Also have some rattles from the instrument cluster housing, and/or the HUD area, most trims and the LED strip in the doors. I gave up and just try my best to tune them out...

Ok, here's a free 5s DIY to remove/reduce the LED strip rattles from the coupe's door and also some rattles from the instrument cluster.

1. Basically find any piece of paper a bit thick , in my case I had a five gum package lying in my car.
2. Insert between Outer side of LED strip and the door trim and voila no more rattle there.
3. Use the same approach on the instrument cluster. Wedge some pieces in the lower and upper part where it makes contact w the dash trim.

This is not a final solution, merely a proof of concept where I try to quickly locate and fix. I think a very thin adhesive felt material could help but I don't want to take anything apart so I may wedge an invisible piece of paper.

I am not sure on M4, but on M3, I could pull down that LED thing without taking anything apart.
As mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have felt tape applied to portion of that LED bar.

Ok I gotta check if I can pull down, I'll check the parts catalog and see. But no need to pull down if I can wedge something and be done with it
UPDATE: hard to tell from realoem if the LED strip is part 5 for M3 and M4. the description is not the same. For M3, it says "cover, fiber optics cable", the M4 description is "accent molding".

Both pics show that they can be removed in theory, with 16 clips ... Any special technique to remove ? thanks.

I used small pry bar to push it in small gap that exists between LED bar and end of the pocket. Just pull it down little bit with pry bar. Once it comes down, you can use your hand to carefully push down.

sorry few more questions, i don't want to break any clips or anything if i decide to do it properly. This pic doesn't show the LEDs separate from the accent molding part 5, so when you remove part 5, that's the accent molding and LED all in one, and where is the cable?Name: m4_door_trim_parts.jpg

The 16 clamps, part 19, are they latched on horizontally or vertically ? you say push down, but the picture kinda shows differently. thank you.

I had the same problem. Mine was from the side vent. The vent adjustment is plastic on plastic with a small gap. Adjust it while driving until it's in a sweet spot and doesn't rattle. No "fix" yet.

Having the same damn problem. How did you end up getting it off, and what did you put there to stop the rattle that makes me want to kill things?

Just trying to figure out if I'm having the same issue. Today I was getting out of the car and heard a creaking on my drivers side. It sounded like the frame at the bottom of the car, could this be this issue?

I never took it off, I was still analyzing how to take it off and was hoping the OP would answer my questions before I attempt to do it. So for now I have the piece of paper wedged in, but I cut it so it's not visible, See the pic above in post 98. This is one of the most annoying rattle/buzz.

I actually spent some time staring at it. The rattle looks like it is from the led strip being cracked.

No...I hear that little creak/groan every time I get out of the car as well. It's just a built in reminder from the car that I need to lose weight.

This is not the same sound/issue.

This creaking sound actually comes from what SOUNDS to be the CF roof.....it sounds like cracking, creaking (from the pillars) and popping and only makes these sounds while driving.

It actuality, it's the gloss black plastic trim around the doors as it gets in contact with the upper hard rubber door seals. If they aren't properly lubricated with gummi or the like, they dry up and cause friction with those gloss black pieces and make those sounds.

Once you lube them up, they play much nicer and no more sounds

FYI these creaks came back a little. . . Reapplied armor all and dead silent again. If I have to armor all every 2 months so be it!
