GTS Trans, steering, MDM flash for Competition pack (in .Au)?
A few of you guys posted here:
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1430642&page=2 Anyone in .Au had it done? To me, all the reviews (yes even the OP from the mentioned thread) talk like they're driving a different car to mine: dead centre wheel, clunky up and down shifts (it jerks a bit on WOT, but is OK...). Is USA spec Comp Pack different to our Euro spec? The GTS MDM and US spec CP EDC sound like something I'd have, but DCT...not sure. Stuart, are BMR doing this? |

I had the GTS software (DCT, diff, steering) flashed by Stuart at BMR along with the US comfort suspension.
Overall it’s transformed the car. The comfort setting is much more comfortable. The DCT no longer jerks and engages reverse immediately. The diff is much more progressive and traction control less intrusive. I’d highly recommend this. Basically Stuart saved my stock dct file and I can revert to this at any time although I won’t bother for routine servicing |

I've posted a few small replies here and there regards this topic.
I had mine done through Alex@alpinemss Friday week ago remote. 7am Qld was 2pm for him. I had the following done, GTS STEERING GTS DCT GTS DIFF GTS traction/stability control (MDM) CS EDC Initial display warning removed Auto stop start default off Door lights on in reverse Display txt/email while driving DVD in motion My car I a 14 model so non ZCP, KW springs. Instantly noticed the steering, I'm like you in that I had no issues with it....it's just better now. Second thing I noticed was the EDC, settled the car down much better, smoother ride but still firm. DCT, generally a fair bit smoother but didn't remove the lurch that sometimes you get on take off which was one thing I was hoping for, it is better on take off but not fixed... particularly in sport+. MDM mode is quite a bit more free, had the back step out on me much more in situations since. Diff... dunno, why not get it when you're doing the rest. I'm about to go on a driving holiday which will cover some of the east coast awesome roads so it'll be interesting once I get it into the hills. Cheers, |

Can someone advise how this is done to work out if it will be a warranty problem when dealer plugs in obd...it's not coding but iirc you're changing the vehicle type in ista?

Probably best asking that question in the coding section, from the research I did it seems you can do it in a way it doesn't appear abnormal with a normal plug in. Remember none of this is aftermarket, so for BMW to consider challenging warranty would be pretty drastic.

slightly off topic but while getting all this coded is it possible to tune the comp pack burbles for for a lci m3 without competition pack ( don't want the extra power ). my downshifts and upshifts seems razor sharp in manual mode as is but i struggle sometimes in sport + where you go above 2-3 k rpm and the car buckles if you don't up shift or floor it hard.

That will bring the entire driving experience across. Warranty implications aside of course. Send him a PM and see what he has to say. |

I suspect if it is possible to flash the competition file to the standard f80 M3 - that will give you some of the burbles etc. I have an entire brand new stock competition exhaust for sale of my car if you are interested. It was taken off at delivery and has 0km on it. I suspect you will need this if you want the competition pack sound. PM for details of exhaust if interested. |

The ‘competition sound’ has nothing to do with the exhaust as far as I am aware.
It’s the different tune which brings in those burbles, cracks and pops, by passing fuel. Someone more experienced than I can explain better I’m sure. |

The competition pack has baffles in the muffler not present on the standard M3. You will not be able to reproduce the exhaust note, burbles and crackles completely with a tune due to the absence of these baffles. The tune is off course important but there are subtle hardware differences in the muffler also.

Although I was initially sceptical actually sounds really good based on the videos I've heard. Definitely would have considered this (had I known the sound was so good) before dropping 8K plus on the MPE. |

Three young kids mate. Had an E70 40d, tuned. Diesel is the worst in the world for start up cancer. Just don't "warm" up your car before you're inside it, manual recirc. Leave that sunroof of yours closed. Or if you have to hear the cold start, move it outside (oh wait, moving it stops the cold start :/...). E85 has butterflies and spring water come out the exhaust apparently
