91 Octane & Downpipes: Which JB4 map to run?

With 91 octane fuel and downpipes which JB4 map can be ran?

I know the JB4 documentation mentions Map 2 with downpipes but that is with 93+.

So what is the map recommendation when only 91 is available?

Map 0: Disable JB4 / Full Pass Through Mode
Map 1: Stage1 map adding approximately 40whp and 40wtq across the power band on pump gas. Suitable for all stages and fuel mixtures.
Map 2: Slightly more aggressive version of map 1 intended for vehicles with exhaust modifications and 93+ octane fuel. Can also be used with E85 and racing fuel mixtures. Requires Stage2. Stage3 fuel connector suggested.
Map 3: Slightly less aggressive version of map 1 intended for vehicles running on lower grade fuels such as 91 octane. Requires Stage2.
Map 4: OEM performance but with JB4 active for datalogging only.
Map 5: //M low torque (evaluation) map.
Map 6: Custom tuning map.
Map 7: Race gas map. Requires 100 octane unleaded fuel and for the fuel mass connector to be installed. Can be used with or without the EWG connectors but will make more power with the EWG connectors installed. This map can also be used with up to 35% E85 but in some vehicles & conditions this may cause a high fuel pressure drop and resulting stuttering. If this occurs drop down to map 2.
Map 8: Methanol Injection map. Requires BMS FSB controller or methanol kit for progressive mapping and safety systems. For pump gas a meth additive of 30-40 is suggested while for race gas/E85 + meth up to a 75 additive can be used. The higher the meth additive the more aggressive the boost curve. A meth additive of 60 would be roughly equivalent to map 7.

Note: map8 changes its curved based on your boost safety setting.

Setting of 30psi or less: Map8 targets a peak of 27psi with a 75 additive tapering towards redline. This setting is intended for OEM turbos.

Setting of more than 30psi: Map8 targets a peak of 32psi with a 75 additive with no taper to redline. This setting is intended for larger than OEM turbos like PURE S2 Turbos.

Note: For competition race use only exhaust parts to enable the automatic clearing of passive codes (real codes will continue to show a light in dash) set menu 4 in dash to 1.

So does the 'Stage 1 Tuner' device work with 91? Based on the above it sounds like it may not? If I can't run any of the other maps it seems like maybe the basic Stage 1 device may be a better purchase.

Also, do downpipes provide any additional HP/TQ gain when running 91? Or is pointless unless higher octane fuel is being used?

my suggestion is to add 3-4 gallon of E85 per tank. you can then run map 2.

use gasbuddy app or equiv to find E85 stations. IIRC I fueled up in the san marcos area but there are others in the area.

Stage 1 works on 91, stage 1 power is identical to JB4 map 1 which is compatible with 91.

if you run map 3 you will get additional power with 91 and downpipes.
You cannot run map 3 unless you have downpipes

Hey guys.. Today I switched from map 1 to map 3. Car is bone stock just jb4 and aa midpipe. It definitely feels a lot more powerful then map 1 because i can't get it to hook now on 2nd and even 3rd I feel the tires slipping on 295's at the rear. Map 1 with heated tires it will hook no wheel spin map 3 heated tires spinning on 2nd and 3rd 😱. Can I or can I not run map 3 without downpipes please let me know don't want my car to break down. It's kinda weird too that I feel more power with map 3 and it says it's a slightly aggressiveness version of map 1🤔🤔🤔

i was also curious about this, and couldn't find a lot of info using search. Does map 3 make that much of a difference over map 1? I'm running map 1 + dp so I'll probably have difference result, but how much of a difference can you feel without losing traction?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread.

I have drop ins, VRSF catless downpipes, and 91 octane

I should be running Map 3?
