Wasn't thinking of buying an M6, now I'm browsing dealerships for one. Thanks (:

Here's a quick comparison.
AW/SO DCT F13 M6 Fully Loaded minus CCB Overall- This is a true touring sport coupe. This is probably my favorite car of all the cars I have had to date. It is a very well rounded car that is awesome for cruising and highway drives as well as around the twisties. My commute is about 40 miles of highway and there is occasional traffic through the city and I never get bored of it. Driving Dynamic- I had an F10 M5 prior to this car and I can say that this car feels like a completely different car. I initially thought that the power delivery and throttle would be identical, but it was completely different. The M5 felt more like a turbo car than the M6, I could feel more lag in the power delivery. The power delivery on the M6 makes it feel more linear and smoother. There is no boaty feeling present at all in the M6 and feels firmly planted. Sound- I have a Meistershaft exhaust and it makes the car sound amazing. Every time I start the car I love hearing the cold start. This car sounds 1000x better than the F80 M3 as far as engine and exhaust noise goes. I have the B&O sound system in this car and it is super crisp. Compared to the Harmon Kardon from the M3 and my previous M5, I can notice the sound is a little bit more clear. Interior- I have full Sakhir Orange interior with Carbon Fiber in the M6. The design is slightly more driver oriented than the M5 and M3. It is gorgeous to look at. I have driven this car 11 hours straight from Dallas to Atlanta and I never got bored with the drive the whole way. It was a super comfortable drive and I only had to stop for gas. The leather covers everything that is not carpet in this car as opposed to the F80 with full leather which doesn't cover some areas below the door handles and around the parking brake. Full leather is a must on the M6 or you will regret it. Exterior- I know this is more subjective, but I think this is the best looking BMW. It is sleek, sporty, and classy. Everything flows together pretty well. AW/BK DCT F80 M3 Fully Loaded minus CCB Overall- A good analogy of an M3 vs an M6 in terms of sports bike is an M3 is like a 600RR as an M6 is to a 1000RR. If you have ever ridden sports bikes you would know. The M3 is quick and nimble and maneuvers very responsively. Its a good everyday car if you are really driving back roads with some twists. If you are driving it mostly highway and your commute is 30 mins+, I would recommend and M5 or M6 over the M3. If you track regularly and have short drives then I would recommend the M3. If my wife didn't need to drive it, I would have definitely gotten it in 6MT. I had to get the M3 in DCT or else I would not had the option to choose cars in the morning. Driving Dynamic- When I drive the M3, I feel like I am back in my twenties again (31 now). It makes you feel young and full of energy. I feel like I am in full control of the car and I can zip in and out of any driving situation. It has that M steering feeling that is on steroids. I have read people complain about the road noise and I can see where they are coming from. I think BMW put less sound deadening in this car compared to the previous gen E9X M, but I guess that is a sacrifice in order to improve the light handling feel. The M5/M6 has much better noise reduction and feels much more sturdier/heavier compared to the M3. Sound- I think this is a big determination of why I choose the M6 more often then the M3 each morning. I can start off the day with a smile from startup on the M6. I cant say the same for the F80 M3. The cold start sounds very bad. The engine noise when driving is also nothing I smile about. I think the only condition where I thought it sounded decent was during acceleration through a tunnel with the window down. I Otherwise, I think this car sounds very bland to me. The Harmon Kardon sound system is decent in this car and had similar tones to the one in my previous M5. It's good for what it is but I would say the B&O has better sound clarity. Interior- The interior of the M3 feels a little bit more cramped in the driver seat than an M6. It is nice for a compact sedan with a touch of luxury, but I wish it would have been more driver oriented similar to the M6. The seats are pretty comfortable and have a more sporty huggy feel to them than compared to the M6 which has a more luxury soft feel. I don't like how the door compartment bulges out so much. They should have made it swivel out and in when you need to use it. I also wish I would have gotten a different color besides black for interior in the M3. Their is really nothing special with black interior without another color for contrast. Exterior- I think the M3 looks very good and sharp as a compact sports car. It looks like a younger/wilder brother if comparing it to the M6. Having the option to pick between this and the F80 each morning, I have been favoring the M6 more frequently. So if I only had one option of which car I would rather have for my daily drive, I would definitely choose the M6. The M3 is better suited for those who track often and I do not do enough to prefer it. Last edited by DATM3; 02-14-2016 at 06:49 PM.. |

I've had the '12 650 Convertible, '13 M6 Convertible, '14 M6 Gran Coupe and now a '16 M4 Coupe. Among all of them, I like the looks of the M6 but I prefer the ride and handling of the M4. I do agree that the B&O system in the M6 is worlds away from the HK.
