Random white smoke??

So i may car has around 24k miles on it and for the past around 3.5k miles i get random of white smoke for like 2 seconds. it doesn't always happens, i usually notice it 1-2 times a week. So it doesn't always happen.

I usually notice it happening when i do a do a hard pull from a stand-still, revving to 3k+ or a downshift right before i stop. I guess that's the only time the car isn't really moving but engines revving hard so the smoke accumulates and i actually notice it.

Also i got my last service done around 21 k miles after i noticed this happening but i thought it was nothing and at around 23500 miles it said low engine oil and then around 24200 it said engine oil below minimum. So i added 1 quart it still said engine oil below minimum after resetting and driving 30 miles just to see if it would go away then i added around 3/5 another quart and it went away after resetting and it seems good.

Any idea what the smoke could be? Also is the engine oil low thing normal for it to be 1.5Quarts low?
thanks

white smoke is commonly associated with burning coolant, how's your coolant level?

Late reply. But here's a video. It was alittle hard to catch it when it's actually happening beacuse it doesn't always happen.
Got another 2k miles on it and no problem at all just randomly get this smoke.

It's alittle hard to see but it's gray smoke

Around a month and half ago. They replaced my oil pan thinking that is what was causing it. But issue was still there. Now just last week I got my car back again after a cylinder gasket replacement and a few other things. And the issue is still there. Cars been at the dealer for 25-30 days in the past three months. With the dealership performing random repairs on what they "think" could be causing the issue.

Seems pretty noticeable in the video to me, definitely not right....looks like oil leak/seepage from valves or turbos to me.

That's a lot of white smoke. What does it smell like?

Burning plastic smell? Sweet smell?

That's a lot of smoke. Are you having to top off the oil or coolant at all? And like someone else mentioned up top, check the smell as that'll be a good indicator as well.

Wow that's actually a lot of smoke, especially at idle. I'm assuming you had it inspected at a dealer for coolant or oil loss. Did they say they'd found anything? Since you had to add oil it could be anything from a bad piston to a a failed turbo. What has the dealer replaced?

Had the same issue and it progressively got worse. Ended up being that one of the Turbos seals leaked oil into the exhaust. I ended up replacing the turbos. Problem solved. Lets hope you don't have that problem.

That's probably from a journal bearing failure in one of your turbos.

Agree, it looks like early turbo bearing seal failure. Had a Mazdaspeed6 back in '06 and the motor burned through 2 turbos due to bearing seal failures. Turned out to be due to tracking the car. Began smoking just like this at the beginning before the seals completely went. When they went, wow, what a smoke show - think Bond/007 like smoke from the exhaust

It's normal during winter times. When I'm driving on the highway, I see white smoke from rear view mirror every time I kick down the gas paddle!

No, not normal on a newish car with 24K miles on it. No matter what time of year. Have them fix it while it's still under warranty, no question. Oil leaking by turbo seals makes a lot of sense as previously mentioned.

So finally after 12k miles, 11 months, 50+ cumulative days at the dealer, 8 separate visits. Finally got my car back today and problem solved. i opened a case with bmwna, and i took it to a different dealership for service than i usually take it to, 15 days later get the car back w/ new turbos and the car is running great, Hopefully the car stays good for the last 7 months i have it.
