BMW Canada 18" Winter Wheel Prices & Packages

I thought I'd share some info I gleaned today through a conversation with the parts department at my local BMW dealer...

It seems like there are very few 18 inch wheel options that are certain to fit on the F8X outside of the OEM BMW 18's. Hopefully that will change in the coming months, but right now the only 18"s I would feel confident in buying are the BMW's ones.

Anyway, here are the pricing and spec's I was given:

513M 18” Summer Wheels
9 x 18 (ET29) - $1,100 CDN each
10 x 18 (ET 40) - $1,190 CDN each

640M 18” Winter Wheels
8.5 x 18 (ET27) - $770 CDN each
9 x 18 (ET29) - $800 CDN each

I was told there are none of these in Canada and that they are special order from Germany.

They also have a new wheel & tire package:

640M 18" Winter Wheels & Continental ContiWinterContact TS830P Tires (255/40/18)
$900 CDN fronts, $915 CDN rears
$3,630 CDN total

This package was discussed in another thread here and priced at $2,738 USD south of the border too...

So those were my findings on the OEM BMW options...

I'm also considering an aftermarket 19" square option that would use 19 x 8.5 wheels and 255/35/19 rubber. Seems like that should give a much wider variety of options at a range of costs.

Ouch!!!!

I went with Avant Garde M510 in a 19x8.5 square setup with 255/35-19 Nokian Hakapellita R2 for notably less than that total. If I went with a less expensive tire (Blizzak LM-60) it would have been under $2,500 all in.

Yeah, I saw your post on that setup and that was my motivation for the 19 inch square setup too. Thanks!

I'm hoping to buy a set of 18" OEM 513M's from someone south of the border and use them as my winter wheels. Should be lots of options on 18" rubber if I can find a wheel that works.

Where did you get your Hakapellita's from? Are you dealing inside Canada? Interested in details if you are...

Got the Nokians from Coast Tire. I'm on the East Coast of Canada. Got the M510 from Need4Speed (vendor here). If you are in Vancouver (based on your avatar) I think the Nokians are overkill... I thought you guys had really mild winters

Cool, thanks! Yeah, Vancouver winters are very mild (aka WET), but my plans are to make the M3 worthy of trips to Whistler and the Interior of BC for some ski weekends, December through March. I will probably end up with some Blizzaks or Sottozero's, but the Nokian's had caught my attention too.

Did you get a part number for the package? I can find the wheels and tyres, but not the combined thing.

Hmmm... No, I didn't ask for the part number. He priced them off for me one at a time, so maybe there is no single part number?

I've run Sottozeros on my x-drive 328 and have Michelin PA3s on the Benz (which has the 4matic, of course). I had Hakkalapellitka whatevers on an old FWD Jetta. All good tires.

What is the wisdom here on the ContiWinterContacts? (in Calgary, so range from dry (Chinook time) to 6" of snow and falling. sometimes in the same day)

(and just to make me cry, it is in fact snowing right now. on Sept 9. after being +25 yesterday. honestly this place......)

US dealer quoted me US$2720 for 640M winter tire package (18" 640M + Continental winters).
Package part numbers (I haven't been able to confirm part numbers):
Front: 36112365403
Rear: 36112365421

Looks like another trip to Buffalo is coming up.

Did you guys try to negotiate with the Parts guy for some discount off, being early bird ?

I had my success with my F10 M5 (couple of years ago). I just called up all the local bimmer dealerships and asked. In the end, I got about 10% off from Maranello in Woodbridge.
