Hit a deer with my new M4 last night.

Was driving home at 8:30 pm when a deer darted in front of my new M4 (200 miles). I was going 45 mph following a safe distance behind another car when a deer suddenly darted in front from the right, grazing the driver side headlight. What do you think the estimates will be?

Sorry to hear this
fortunately it only grazed your vehicle
on a side note did your car have the driver assistance package
I'm asking cause if it had would it have picked up the obstacle?

I do have the drivers assistance package; however it didn't pick-up the deer as far as I could tell. The animal was just a blur in front of the car and I heard a dull thud. No breaking occurred and there was no dash warning light.

Oh deer. Glad you are okay. This reminds me of the deer that was completely stuffed in to a BMW's engine bay.

Sorry to hear this at least it wasn't that bad. could've been much worse. Did the deer just keep running?

Just looks like a couple broken tabs for mounting screws. Looks negligible to me. You might be able to just get the one new left mounting "bracket" thing that appears to be snapped in half and call it a day. The other white mounting piece might just be able to be reset and still function as designed.

cost of a brand new headlight will be over $1k. factor in labor, recoding the headlights for adaptive ability, conservatively i'd estimate ~$2000

Looks like a deductible charge to me!

Glad you're alright though. Had a similar deer encounter last year - was very lucky it didn't decide to freeze and go through my windshield.

I am very sorry to hear about your accident. I live in DSM and I am very careful driving around Iowa. Curious...where did you buy your M4?

That's what I thought. I will get an estimate tomorrow.

The deer continued running and seemed OK. We were both very lucky.

Sorry to hear that. When my 335ix was only 54 days old I hit a deer and it didn't look like much but all and said between hood, head light assembly and other parts, labor, and paint I was at $4,800.00

That is an amazingly SMALL amount of damage for hitting a dear. You must have grazed it's tail or something. Glad you're ok.
