I can't tell if I love it so much and need it today or if it's meh and I don't even want to see it alive.

Looks like a momo shift knob and a M3 shift knob had a baby. I'll take the boot only.

I'm conflicted as well, need to see a few more pics and in real life.

If it has a nice weight to it, and the aluminum is quality, I think it's a go...

I'll be the first to say I really like it! It's sporty, yet classic, functional and high quality.

I'm in!

I hope they make a carbon fibre version. Id prefer CF over the aluminum.

I'm conflicted over it.....not sure if I like it or not. Looks like they took a regular knob and then turned it into Robocop.

Agreed, but still need to consider how hot/cold the aluminum will get in the dead of summer/winter. Had a sparco aluminum knob in my e36 M3 and I had to keep one right hand thick leather glove in the car during the summer. You couldn't even touch it after sitting in the sun for a bit. Really wish the alcantara portion went all the way around the knob with just the aluminum accents on the top and bottom.

Way to resurrect an old thread!

I just installed this MP gear knob last week. Seems as though BMW designed it just for me. I am tall with large, skinny hands and hated the stock knob's shape; it forced me to wrap my hand over it rather than around, which is usually my preferred grip. The dry carbon knob is even smaller so it would've made things worse. Plus it loses the lighted shift pattern which I did not want to do.

This knob has a large indentation in the back for my fingers to wrap around, and the area is grooved for proper grip. My thumb rests on top of the shifter. The alcantara front area will likely wear poorly but BMW seems to have planned for it and screwed it in, instead of gluing it on. If it wears too much after the OEM accessory warranty expires, I should be able to pop it out and get it refinished by an upholstery shop.

The M colors on the side look beautiful and the aluminum finish is a nice contrast against the OEM CF trim in the background. The knob is slightly lower (a few mm by my estimate) based on how much of my forearm rests on the center storage lid now compared to before.

I also got the MP e-brake handle and boot to match the new shifter's boot.
