Dont have paperwork yet the car is still there. I got off the phone with advisor and he told me the car was at 9400 rpms. I haven't noticed redlining the car but i can be wrong.

Man if that is really the case 9400 rpm over rev. you may have bent valves or just spun your crank Hub. If you need an Indy shop, talk with the guys at Maximum PSI in NJ , they have lot experience rebuilding these motors. They can also pin your HUB so it will not spin in the future.

Absurd.

9,400 RPM, but I haven?t noticed redlining it!!

Who in their right mind would think anyone would believe that.

It?s not a simple 100-200 over.... 9,400

My kid wanted to help you out.

You mean you were trying to go from 3rd to 4th but went into 2nd instead? Thats called a "money shift", and its about the only way to get to 9400 rpms.

BMW won't pay for a money shift. (Most if the time). It's driver error.

"Redlining" is when you are in gear and are bouncing off the 7600 rpm rev limiter. You'd be fine if that's all you did.

No... clearly you money shifted or just don't know how to row gears.

This one is on you; the gauges stop at 8500 for a reason.

BMW should pay for this because they don't have a warning label on the tach that says if you rev to 9400 rpm you will blow your motor

9400rpm is not redlining.

I wonder if/When a HUB spins can there be a big spike in RPM'S before the fuel cut hits ... Sounds Plausible ? Perhaps thats whey some are more severe than others with Bent Valves and such

Its definitely very possible. If you spin crank hub is it repairable?

Then make that argument with BMW regional rep and see if you can get it covered. Yes a SCH can be fixed.

You're going to have to post up the work order, or no one will believe you / chime in to help. It's just the way it is now after multiple people reported crank hubs that magically disappeared, or lied about something.

According to to you, you didn't misshift - according to BMW, you did. Hence why people want to see the work order..

This is clearly a money shift thread. ugh, I feel sorry for the car, operator error.

Waiting for the moronic, "why didn't the computer limit my rpms" part of the thread to start.

DCT FTW. Money shifts are one less thing to think about. Now, that's one BMW customer lost forever. I was more fortunate BMW covered mine. Good luck with the repairs OP.
