Final Mods: My '16 M3 (F80) in Silverstone Metallic
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Below are a few pictures of my F80. I tried to capture how the color changes depending on the light and angle. You can see these and many more high res shots here!!! Enjoy!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi Everyone! Some of you may know my 2013 335i in Mineral Grey from my thread here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=796633 Well, after 3 great years of owning my F30 beauty, I decided it was time to finally step into my dream BMW. I sold my F30 and took delivery of my new F80 just two weeks ago. At first, I could not decide between Sakhir Orange, Mineral White or Silverstone II. In the end, I was convinced to go with SSII after seeing the color in person and witnessing all the transformations this amazing color goes through. Here is my build... Original Packages and Options:
Happy to report, I am still in love with my F80. Probably more so now that I have added the Dinan Coil-overs and the perfect wheels for an F80. The MPE has now broken in nicely and the car just growls at mid to high RPMs. The gearbox is also much smoother now, but this could just be me getting used to it. Like many have reported, the car has developed the infamous door seal squeak. I will have that looked at during my next service. Beyond that, the car has been flawless. This might be a keeper! Impressions after 1200 Miles I am fortunate to be able to share my impressions of my F80 as they compare to my previous F30 which I had modified with M Performance power kit (MPPK), exhaust (MPE) and suspension (MPS). My first 380 miles were a very controlled road trip back from the dealer in SoCal. One concern I had from other posts and my limited test drive of a pre-owned 2015 F80 was how comfortable the car would be on long road trips. To my surprise, the ride was actually more comfortable than I was used to on my F30 with MPS. My brother made the trip with me and he noticed the much more comfortable ride immediately. At first, he thought it was the seats, but as I changed from Comfort to Sport and then Sport+, it was clear the suspension was at work (more on this later). As far as power, I could definitely tell that this beast was nothing to take for granted. Even in Efficiency mode, the power & torque was clearly in another world over my F30 with MPPK in Sport+ which was rated at 340hp. Efficiency mode on the F30 always felt like driving an older Prius. Needless to say, Efficiency mode on my F30 was never used whereas Efficiency on my F80 is perfect for regular City driving. After getting my break-in service out of the way I was finally able to put the car to the test. Needless to say, the power is more than any street car should ever need. Pushing the car from 30-80 mph in 3rd gear is simply a blast for me and definitely scary for my passengers. I always felt that turbo lag on the F30 was never really an issue and in my F80 the same is true. Great job BMW!! As previously mentioned, the ride quality on the F80 for me is an improvement from my F30 with MPS. Driving on rough roads is much more comfortable in Comfort/Sport and believe it or not, I feel that the F80 with stock EDC is a much better car to live with if you frequent rough roads. Even with the same front lip splitter, the ride height on my F80 is almost a full 2" higher at the front lip which makes it super easy to live with. This does come with a bit of a downside in that the F80 to me feels to have too much body roll for my taste - not to mention the excessive front wheel gap. I hope that the soon to be released M Performance HAS will address the body roll without adversely impacting ride quality too much. I am already used to having a lower front end so the lower ride height will not be an issue for me. The one thing I absolutely love about my F80 are the sounds it makes. For anyone debating about getting the MPE - you should not think twice if you plan to lease the car. It is crazy expensive to purchase, but I still prefer it over a lot of the alternatives. The beast just roars over 3K on the tach with a nice deep tone. Like others, I was not a fan of ASD which is why I decided to get the Macht Schnell EVC module to control exhaust valves and also turn ASD on/off without unplugging the module. The one thing I noticed after running the car with ASD off for a couple hundred miles is that it seems to not be as pronounced on my car as I remember from my limited test drive. Not sure if this is because the test drive was in a 2015 with standard exhaust vs the MPE. With the Macht Schnell, I now have ASD set to on only in Efficiency mode so I always get the roar even when the exhaust valves are closed. One of my favorite things about my F30 was the gearbox. Absolutely one of the best and smoothest gearboxes I have ever driven so these were some pretty big shoes to fill. My F80 does not disappoint in this department. I will say that the gearbox does feel a bit tighter than I remember my F30 being when new. Shifts are still effortless enough and I actually prefer the firmer feel. I am still trying to get used to the rev matching on downshifts and figure it will take me a while to stop trying to blip the gas on my own, but overall, I am really enjoying this gearbox. It is so easy to drive that I can honestly say that anyone who has never driven a manual before can easily learn to drive one in this car. In fact, one thing I recently noticed is that rev matching even works from a dead stop. At a meet recently, a fellow member commented how he was caught by surprise when he accidently left the car in 1st and let out the clutch. Unlike most cars that easily stall without giving it gas, the F80 will rev match and move the car without you giving it gas. Not exactly a good thing when you are parked, but it does make launching the car easier. So - am I happy and totally in love with my F80? Absolutely!! Owning an M3 has been a dream of my since I first saw the E30 M3 and am glad to finally have one. Updated wheels again to BBS FI-R 19" in Platinum Silver w/Michelin Pilot Super Sports Front: 19x9.5 +22ET - 265/35 Rear: 19x10.5 +35ET - 295/35

Looks Awesome and CONGRATS! Great choice in mods, I have never seen the CF pillars before.
Good job on going with the MT as well!! You should consider cleaning up those floor mats though...... Are you considering spacers and getting it lowered?

Yeah -almost didnt include the interior shots cuz of those damn mats. Easy enough to wipe down but didn't have a rag with me. Thought about spacers, but have other plans in mind. Also waiting on MP HAS to be released.

Added the CF to pillars mainly because I hate the finger smudges and micro scratches that are inevitable on the piano gloss. Almost didn't do it because I felt it would be a bit much, but in the end, I was happy that the CF matched well with OEM.

Stunning car, and perfect choice of mods.
Hopefully I'll get to see it in person soon. Btw where did you get the tint and film?
