Feeling blue... Azurite Black?
Anybody's two cents on Azurite Black?
There is an X5 and 435i GC at my local dealership in Carbon Black but nothing in Azurite Black. How do they compare and contrast? |

I like Azurite Black. Some don't like the blue tint it has in the sun. If you like it, who cares? Just be warned that all blacks are a pain in the ass to keep clean and free of swirls. It'll be a while before I get another black vehicle.

I saw Azurite Black car in person, and the color is gorgeous when clean: it's mostly dark blue in direct sunshine, but black-ish in shade or under overcast skies. The difference in hues works well to accentuate gorgeous F80 body shape.
If you are leaning towards darker colors, I would recommend seeking out a AB car on a dealer's lot, even if that requires driving a few hours. Or just go for it. a Disclaimer: I would also vote to go with a fun color for the fun car (e.g.: SO ;-), but AB would have been my second choice.

Azurite is one of the best colors available for this car without going full individual. because it has blue flakes instead of silver metallic flakes like Sapphire black, it has a much richer and nicer color in indirect lighting conditions (i.e. it looks like an inkier black), and then in direct light the blue flakes really come through. awesome combination

Thank you for all of the great feedback. The more thought I put into it, and the more pics I see, I'm leaning towards Azurite. Any members have pics they can share?

Azurite is similar to carbon only in the sense that it's a black w/ blue flakes. The Azurite just displays them more and shines better. Think of it as a diamond that has a higher clarity of color haha.
I would pay the add-on for Azurite. It looks spectacular under the sun (when it's clean for that one day after it is washed) |

My buddy just painted his project '84 Porsche 911 in Azurite black...needless to say the color is amazing! It is black but in the sunlight is where the color really comes through. The blue pearl pops in the sunlight. Black/blue, best of both worlds.

I have not seen Azurite in person but I have seen Carbon. Nice color but as others have stated no way would I spend $5K on it.

Incorrect. Carbon black is another color. Been popular on F1x M Sport models. It is like carbon paper, the color that pops is purplish.

BMW Monterey had an azurite f80 with Cohiba interior a few months back. It was epic. I almost bought it on the spot until the Mrs reminded me Id never be able to keep it clean enough. IMHO I'd pay the up charge for azurite as its "different" enough from the standard colors to be worth a slight premium.
