no it doesnt. it resets every time.bmw needs to fix that. also adjustment speed is slow as shit. good luck using it on the fly. its one of those things that either work amazingly or sucks. i will update this post with how well it works with better tires as soon as i get some. next week.

Confirm Launch Control

Hello Guys and Gals-

During my 1200 service on my M4 (DCT), I asked the service advisor if they activated launch control. He repeated several times that it does not apply to the DCT. After looking at the manual and scrubbing through this forum I could not find out how I can confirm whether or not launch control is activated. How do I simply confirm this for those who have DCT?

Thanks in advance-

Warm it up...

sport+ for everything, level 3 on manual mode

TC Off!

step on brake, step on gas.. it should stutter at 3500 and hold rpm

Interestingly launch control was not activated in that video...

You just need DSC Off and DCT in S3.

You don't need "Sport+ for everything". Engine, EDC and steering can be in any mode. It is even recommended to keep EDC in Comfort for improved traction.

Suggest launching at 2500 for a quicker less spinning getaway.

OK, so once you let go of the brake the car will launch. I guess that's right.

Make sure you do it without any cars in the lanes beside you. Sometimes it gets a little tail happy and kicks the rear loose if you launch it hard enough. ask me how I know.

One thing that is weird to me is that we have to turn off DSC completely instead of MDM (traction off, and less strict DSC). Isn't launch control for "straight" acceleration? Why does BMW make us take the risk of spinning around and crashing with completely turning of DSC?

I think you mean EVERY time. Maybe I should just set the RPMs lower, but I can't catch any traction until 3rd gear.

Do keep it mashed; if you don't, you will de-activate launch control.

Launch control will remain engaged as long as you have the throttle pedal depressed all the way to the floor with the "kick-down" button engaged and you don't shift manually.

If you de-activate launch control during a launch (checkered flag disappears), you may get even more wheel spin. The transmission will also no longer upshift automatically and you will bounce off the limiter.
