Not even practically a mute or mostly a mute... Ninja silent... Well, as far as the creaking goes...

And whatever brake shield they replaced on mine, zero pebbles caught so far... I probably just jinxed myself but yeah...

Don't resort to rigging your own do-it-yourself Teflon tape or lube patches... There's an official release from bmw, might as well get it done proper !!
How could there have been a bulletin in 2016 to replace the window seals but yet my car, a 2018 M3, is still squeaking. I'd assume that BMW would make the necessary changes in the factory to that they aren't producing cars with known defects.
Eh no. BMWs have been old ship squeaking for a decade or longer. My 2004 545i did it. They don't care to fix it....

Gummi on my 2015 F80 did the trick.

Gummi on my 2018 F80 did the trick.

As a tip, do the seals on the door and the frame all the way around. Not just the upper portion of the door.

  • Squeaking noise from door rubber at low speeds when the car flexes. Gummi Pflege didn't do anything for me. I know I could get that fixed by the dealer whenever but it doesn't bother me enough to get it done.

So in my case (at 2,500 miles) rattles are either fixable or have gone away on their own.
Same here with my F80 M3. I open the windows in back by a crack it stops. At first Sounds like it is the roof CF, but it is window seals. I don't really care.

See pic. I actually started the tape at the bottom of the trim, a little lower than where the arrow is pointed and taped the entire length of the trim piece which ends at the back of the rear door.

Here is the tape I used from amazon.

A bulletin from Bmw is to apply the tape around the trim. Took my m3 in for that the center carbon trim squeak and a side view mirror creeking. All repaired been 5k since and no noises in the car. They did replace the carbon center trim.

my car is rattle free which makes the door seal noise even harder to tolerate.

greasing the seals with that stick lube twice now so it's under control.

the tire roar, mechanicals and lack of insulation probably covers up any minor squeaks/rattles....

Thanks. Do you think 3/4" is just right? I measured the trim, it seems like 3/4" might be a bit too wide. I don't want to see the tape from the outside.

I've never owned a car that's been creak/rattle free. I usually buy new cars. BMW. Land Rover Range Rover. Porsche 911. Land Cruiser.

It doesn't bother me one bit and I never, ever let the dealer touch it. Less grubby stranger hands on my toys the better. The less I mess with it the better.

It is what I put on the car. You can't see it from the outside if the door is closed. As you can see in the picture, it is barely noticeable if the door is open since the trim is somewhat transparent. Just keep the the tape on the inside edge of the trim. It completely got rid of the creaking. Good luck.

the back of my seat squeaks and makes noise on every bump or acceleration from start. it's beginning to drive me nuts. also have a buzzing sound near the secret compartment on the left that just annoys me but can't figure that one out yet either (feels like it might actually be the trim on the dash rattling a bit).

10,000 service is due soon so hoping to get those things looked at

Window Seal Noises Fixed at Momentum BMW Houston

So this is my 2nd F80 didn't have the window seal issue in the first a 2016 but my 2018 had it pretty bad. I've been having service done at Momentum BMW in Houston and decided to see if they would get it addressed. My SA Jorge Aldana really bent over to get this addressed. He rode with me in the car to hear the squeaking and quickly confirmed it.

I had sent him some of the TSBs and forum threads and he actually took the time to read through them. We set up a followup appt and I left the car with him and got a loaner. Even though there wasn't a specific TSB out for the 18 F80 on this issue, he worked it with the tech and showed them the other TSBs and got them to do the silicon tape plus felt tape fix.

So kudos to Momentum BMW and Jorge for getting this irritating issue fixed properly. I do recommend hitting up Jorge next time for service he actually understands that some of us M3 owners are super anal and picky, first time I went in for service he asked me if I wanted a car wash because he knows some M3 owner don't want it.

Now BMW just needs to get a proper TSB out for this fix for all year F80s!!!

So after applying the tape the creaking is still there maybe even worse : Perhaps my creaking is coming from somewhere else. I notice if the windows aren't open it doesn't creak.

I have '17 F80. Creaking started a few hundred miles in. Been using gummi which solves the problem but I found myself applying more frequently lately.

I brought the car in for the 10k oil service today. My SA found service bulletin 513216.

We will see if it fixes the issue.

Please PM me if you have a solution for a "clicky" brake pedal when it's in the up position and depressing it after driving for a while. Then it is smooth as silk for a while. Then it clicks down again later.

Excuse my ignorance but why can't BMW make framless doors for sedans?

That would be one solution. However, my frameless doors tend to freeze in cold weather and it's a giant PITA. Excited to get back into a sedan for this reason.

I'm noticing a noise coming from driver side rear tire only when hard turning to the right, under light - med load dont hear anything only when pushing the car.

It sounds like the brake dust cover, but wouldnt it sound all the time not just on hard right turns ?

There's something about frame less doors that doesn't sound right when you close it. With framed doors it gives off that suction sound when you close it.

From my experience the higher the horsepower and torque the more stress on all components of the car including interior. Don't even get me started on stiffer suspension parts. If you drive your M3 like you stole it then expect tons of parts to wear out faster. It is even worse if you let your car sit out in the sun during work or on your driveway. All the plastic pieces will warp up and it’s a common issue in BMWs. If you are going to drive fast then try to do it on a track where there are no major pot holes or imperfections in the road that could cause shuttering inside the cabin. I am almost positive everyone has creaks or rattles unless they drive it like their granny. If you have creaks from the beginning then yes there is something obviously wrong. =)
