Armor All reduced the creaking a little bit in the rear doors, but not 100%. Ill have to have the dealer look at it during my breakin service.

I'd stay away from armor all. This stuff worked for me and was impressed!

3/4 series cars are pretty awful for interior creaks, regardless of what badge/engine is on/in them.

I have only put 600 miles on my M4 so far, but have had no squeeks, rattles, clinks, clanks, or clunks so far. In reading through this thread, it appears the majority are M3s, not M4s, and seems the door seals are the culprit. This has always been an issue in every 4-door BMW that I have ever owned because of the type of rubber BMW uses. Just have to keep them "lubricated" and there is no noise.

Also had the wind noise in the M4 - turned out it was just the passenger window had not been closed completely - didn't take much.

I took my car in for the 2nd time today. They applied some lube crap to the weather stripping. Fixes the issue for a week or so.

If the E9X M3 is of any indication, the F8X will be plagued with Creaks and Squeals from windows, front and rear dash.

My car went back at least 3 times for excessive squeaks and squeals. They went the silicone paste route, and ultimately had to replace all seals. With hardly any improvement. I finally had to decide between letting the dealer have my car for days at a time for joy riding and being returned with curb rash, scratches, and or door dings, or keep the windows rolled down so it will minimize noises. I decided on the latter.

BMW=fuckin noises!

Once you accept this truth, the sooner you can start to enjoy the M3/4!

I drove a new 911 Carrera last weekend. That car has such a crappy interior - it rattles like hell. Everywhere. Brand new car, worse than a 30 years old banged up Honda, literally. There's no way you can drive a Porsche without ear plugs.

After this experience I now appreciate BMWs.

I kind of liked the Porsche I took for a spin a few days ago. There might be a way if a manual appears in my way that I could actually live with one.

My M3 rattles and squeaks worse than my 2013 Abarth, which I thought was bad. Will have to take care of it during the first service.

That gummy stuff that was recommended to me was awesome. The lube never worked with T tops on my NSX for more than 3 days but I wish I had this stuff. I dont' think my squeak will ever come back but if it doesn't after a month you should buy it! Super easy to apply and let dry for 15 mins before closing door.

I drove one for about six months or so on the weekends. My FIL couldn't drive due to a surgery he had... I experienced nothing of the sorts. Pretty solid in my experience.

I'm thinking about getting an M3 in the spring but this thread is really worrying me. Especially, with how solid and noise free my RS5 is after a year of ownership.

That is definitely one thing I noticed about Audi compared to BMW. Their build quality seems to be much better and really evident in the less expensive models like the BMW 3/4 series and Audi 4/5 series.

I wouldn't categorize a few rattles as bad build quality, especially given most are from the door seals easily fixed by some vinylex. For me, build quality is a car that doesn't blow its gearbox or engine, or snap control arms and light up like a christmas tree on the track. BMW M3s are as tough as nails where it matters.

Build quality is representative of the entire car and I'm not here to bash the new M3/4. I love them and I have an M3 but since I've compared Audi's to their comparable BMW model, the one thing that always stood out to me immediately was the Audi's always felt more 'solid' and well put together.

And for me, if I'm spending $70K+ on a new car, I don't want to hear rattles all through the dash and doors. Especially, only a few months into ownership.

Sorry but that's build quality...

I never accused you of trying to bash the F8x (I don't have shares in BMW) nor was telling you how you should characterize build quality (I should have written "don't" rather than "wouldn't", my bad), I was merely offerering my viewpoint that driving dynamics and reliability are more important to me than the odd rattle or squeak. As with the 911TT I used to own the brakes squeaked like mad and the seat belts rattled but it was a great drive. I'd drive an S-Class if my priorities were the other way around. Of course, if radio or vent controls were coming off in people's hands then it'd be a different matter.

I've owned Audis in the past and their current popularity means they must be doing something right.

rattle from inside the drivers side air vent on cobbled roads.. in two minds whether to let BMW try fix it as they will possibly make it worse by removing the vent..

I picked up my M4 at BMW Welt yesterday and it already has a minor rattle from the passenger's B pillar. I will let my dealer know about it so that it gets fixed before I take delivery back in the US.

I second that, Under a month of owernship and I'm getting rattles in the rear area, center console and side doors. My E92 never had anything of the sort and was still ratlle free that day I sold it. This is very disappointing
