What are your M Button settings?

While waiting for my new arrival, I started thinking about things to do.

What are your settings?

I'm evolving on what M1 and M2 are set to on my car. I started out with:

Throttle, Steering, Traction, Transmission (note: no adaptive suspension)

M1: S+, S+, DSC ON, S3
M2: S+, S+, MDM, S3

I really only thought about the M settings at the track and DSC ON was good for learning the car, but got intrusive quickly and now I feel is even too much for the street, imo, because MDM is really good for that. Also I'm liking less of a direct throttle response also - its almost impossible to start off like a mature human being in S+ because non-full throttle starts buck the car too much there. I'm using this now:

M1: S, S+, MDM, S3
M2: S, S+, DSC OFF, S3

Still on the fence with steering and will need more time to figure out what feels best to me.

M1=

S+( throttle) S+ ( steering) S ( suspension) S3 ( DCT ) DSC ON ( HUD Normal view)

M2= everything S+, MDM and S3.(HUD M VIew)

I like my car to feel sporty and responsive all the time hence my M1 daily driving settings. If I come to a poor stretch of road I may go to Comfort suspension via the button but that's my only change really.

M1 - S, C, S, Normal HUD (daily driver)

M2 - S, S+, S, MDM, M HUD

I find in comfort mode the suspension handles great. It'll still stiffen up on curvy roads and hard corners but won't be as stiff over bumps. No clue how this magic works but it's awesome.

I dunno about you guys but this thing can rev-match way faster than I can heel toe.. So keeping the engine in sport for track mode.

Throttle level 2/3 are just harsh a shit. Love it when dropping the gears as they create more pop in the sound but god damn it's neck breaking during first and second gears as the throttle becomes very hard and uneasy to press.

Sir,

That's a great idea. I should be taking delivery in the next couple of weeks, and thinking of the best settings to use.

Do It.........please

What are your M Button settings?

After over a month of constant playing, here’s how my M1 & M2 are currently configured along with the reason/purpose:

M1 = When stuck in a precession of traffic, Motorway driving or just wanting a relaxing commute:
Engine: Efficient
Suspension/Chassis: Comfort
Steering: Comfort
Transmission: D1
DSC: On
HUD: Standard

A bit of a waste of M1 I know however I’ve become tired of having to hit the Steering and Suspension buttons x2 each (to get from default Sport back to Comfort) in addition to de-activating the Start-Stop (i.e. 5 unnecessary button presses), every time I start the car for my daily commute.

I think the start-up default should be everything in Efficient/Comfort, freeing M1 to be whatever intermediate combination each person prefers.

M2 = B road blasting:
Engine: Sport+
Suspension/Chassis: Comfort*
Steering: Sport+*
Transmission: D3 (since it swaps to S3 at the first pull of a paddle anyway)
DSC: On (I currently prefer to manually switch to MDM/Full Off as and when I want them)
HUD: M Mode

* I find the combination of having both the Suspension and Steering in Sport+ can make the car feel too twitchy over some of my local bumpy/broken B roads - I tried having both in Sport, but find Comfort and Sport+ actually gives a better result.

Cheers,
Joe

Yep, I agree that the car should start with everything comfort/efficiency to start. Anyway, my settings:

M1 - A road cruising
Engine Sport
Steering comfort
Suspension Comfort
Transmission D2
DSC On

M2 - B road blasting

Engine Sport +
Steering Sport
Suspension Sport
Transmission S3
DSC MDM

I don't like sport plus steering - just too heavy for my liking. Similarly, english roads and sport plus suspension don't really go together!!

sounds much like the setup I'm planning to go for, and totally agree with your comment about start-up default which should be all-comforty, or at least some third line of setting, saved to the key - which brings me to the question: isn't this the case? i.e. can I just configure "something" which is then kept as the "default" config for my personal key when, say, I turn the car off with this configuration? or does the car go back to whatever it was when turned off, i.e. M1, M2 or "manual configuration", i.e. there is no way of a third configuration (default) setting?

Frustratingly, none of the above - As soon as you switch the car off/on it returns to the factory default. It will not remember the previous setting, nor can you re-configure the default.

M buttons.

For those of you who have their car already, how do you have your M buttons programmed for the available settings? Been reading the manual and was just curious. Maybe some detail about reasoning would help too.

M1 : Sport across all settings and MDM, D2, regular HUD
M2: Sport + Throttle, Sport Steering and Suspension, DSC Off, S2, M HUD

Im not a fan of the Sport + for steering and suspension. I think its perfect in Sport, just want the added kick in throttle

Throttle, Suspension, Steering, Traction
M1: E, C, C, MDM
M2: S+, S, C, MDM

The steering is too stiff for my tastes, even on comfort. Just me I guess.

Sport+ on everything all the time. Can't see myself ever using any other settings unless I ever happen to be transporting large quantities of eggs.

Two weeks with the car and currently at:

Throttle, Suspension, Steering, Traction, Transmission

M1: S, C, C, normal, D2
M2: S+, C, C, MDM, D3

The comfort settings for steering and suspension are fine for me for every day travel. Basically, its M1 when the wife is in the car and M2 when I am alone.
