BIMMERPOST NEWS
F80 M3 VIN Indicates New BMW M Color Yas Marina Blue?
76
COMMENTS

These F80 M3 prototype car specs from VIN checks undertaken a few months back [see original story on s55 engine specs] reveal a potential new exclusive BMW M color coming for the upcoming M3 and M4.

One of the M3 prototypes was spec'd in Yas Marina Blue (named after the Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, and where BMW recently held its M6 M Power Experience for customers). However, as we've yet to spot any M3 or M4 prototypes wearing a new blue color, we don't yet know if it would be a light, medium or dark blue.

The M3 prototype in Yas Marina Blue was spec'd with a Silverstone II interior. The M3 VINs also revealed that a Sakhir Orange leather interior will be available, and in full extended leather.

For the latest M3/M4 info and details, see our compilation at: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=602770

Happy to see the silver stone to be offered in M3/4. And really excited to see the new blue.

The color doesn't have to actually resemble the lights at the Yas Marina Circuit.

BMW needs to drop SSII, both paint and leather. Way too blue.

BTW, in the leather "food chain" is Merino "above" Nappa?

M Lap Timer?

Did I miss the discussion on option 4WD-M Lap Timer? Could this mean a more track friendly dealership experience, like Ford Boss?

That last pic makes me hope it's a successor to Interlagos blue.

I hope for a shade between the M5's MCB and the M6's SMB in a deep clear, sparkly blue with no purple or green undertones.

Merino leather, huh. Yet another sign that the M3 might further cut the ties to the regular 3s and move up in the status hierarchy and become a full blown luxury sports car to be viewed more on par with a 911. Hopefully this is the case and the quality of materials throughout the cabin will equal the M5's and not the F30's.

Yes. It's a snooze fest of a GP.

why can't they offer a nice colored red leather like coral on the M's? this is the second iteration in a row that is going to have an orange-ish red leather. I'd love to get extended red leather, but I don't want a fox or sakhir orange color. a nice, deep brick red would be perfect.

what about Sakhir Orange exterior?

Rather than these full color leather options I would much rather have black leather with colored piping/trim, give me a Sakhir orange exterior with black leather and orange trim on it (or substitute the orange with a M Blue or red color).

Also I believe Nappa and Merino leather are one in the same as far as quality goes, step up over Dakota/Nevada... Just made somewhere different or from different cows

BMW M colors are not only named after but influenced by Global GP tracks.

Hence why SILVERSTONE , PHOENIX, SAN MARINO, MONTE CARLO etc.
