As these cars get bigger and bigger a a twin turbo V8 wouldn't be bad.

But then you lose the character of the car....

Yeah, I couldn't take it. I traded it in after 6 months. It wasn't thrilling enough to me, and I had a full AA exhaust. Couldn't fix it.

At WOT, on the track, it was great....all other times, the lawnmower soundtrack was bothersome.

It did and it does. That car cold was an embarrassment driving away. lol Much like the S55 sounds cold and up the revs a bit.

I got rid of mine after 6 months as well. Even un plugged the fake cabin sound. Went to a N/A 911. Come on BMW, get your act together.

As much as I'd love for BMW to put a V8 back in the M3, I'd even be okay with just going with a N/A I6. The turbo just seem so out of characteristic on these cars.

On a side note, the best sounding F8x car I've heard was stock ZCP muffler and AA mid pipe and catless downpipe.

It sounds decent for an F80 until the "farting" on upshift. I dont understand why BMW does this?? Can it be disabled?

Am I the only one who doesn't really give a $hit about the sound? Long as it has the GO I'm good.

Well good thing for you there is more FI choices than ever!

Also, I don’t have anything against either. (Hair color or engines)

I never really did either until my F8X experience. I had a F30 335 with a MPPK and MPE installed and it sounded awesome if not a little muted. Then I got my first F80 and didn’t hate, but was disappointed. I then got my F82 and installed a non resonated Remus catback system. I loved it in certain aspects of the RPM range and then didn’t other areas. Ultimately I was still disappointed overall though until I got my GT350.

As good as my GT 350 sounds I’m still toying with the idea of a full headers back Kooks system. I know sacrilegious, but us car guys have a problem and can’t leave well enough alone sometimes.

I recently had my Akrapovic Evolution (w/ the Evolution link) put back on my M3 from my M4. The ZCP makes a big difference and I been finding myself laughing like an idiot when I drive.

I didn't get this feeling in my M4 before.

That being said I never driven a real V8 as of now so... I am more used to V6, I6 and I4s. I'm not a fan of I4 engine noises though. The B48 I recently had for a few days was much better compared to the N20 that was in my 328i.

I hate the N20 in my wife’s 428 in just about every way. I can’t wait until her lease is up and we can get her into a 440 or something. But, it’s her car and I barely drive it so I guess I shouldn’t care.

The N20 sounded awful on idle, even on revs it sounded bad. There wasn't anything good about it I can point to even though I loved my 328i.

The 430i I drove with the B48 sounded MUCH better and it liked to rev higher at low gears, something the N20 didn't want to do much.

Also, there are more than other reasons why BMW won't be a V8 into the M3/M4 again. Some of you probably would guess it has to do with weight too. Yeah if they put the V8 from a M5 into the M3, it would be a beast but the M-DCT would need to be probably reprogramed/reworked to handle the load, then there is the weight problem as the F90 is also a porker. M3/M4 will always be as light as possible, BMW won't put something so heavy into the car again.

Of course if they put in the V6 they patent a while ago on the thread here that would be great but... I can dream I guess.

My wife's X335 sounds pretty good. Not loud but the tone is definitely better.

After driving E92 for 5 years, moving to F80 was an upgrade in every aspect except the engine, engine sound and linear acceleration which happened to be priorities for me.
I'd go back to M3 later if they go to V8 NA
Or get back in a nice E9x, I'm loving mine.
