As these cars get bigger and bigger a a twin turbo V8 wouldn't be bad.
But then you lose the character of the car....

I got rid of mine after 6 months as well. Even un plugged the fake cabin sound. Went to a N/A 911. Come on BMW, get your act together.

As much as I'd love for BMW to put a V8 back in the M3, I'd even be okay with just going with a N/A I6. The turbo just seem so out of characteristic on these cars.
On a side note, the best sounding F8x car I've heard was stock ZCP muffler and AA mid pipe and catless downpipe.

It sounds decent for an F80 until the "farting" on upshift. I dont understand why BMW does this?? Can it be disabled?

Which just goes to show you: no matter how bad you think things are, they can always get worse.

As good as my GT 350 sounds I’m still toying with the idea of a full headers back Kooks system. I know sacrilegious, but us car guys have a problem and can’t leave well enough alone sometimes. |

I didn't get this feeling in my M4 before. That being said I never driven a real V8 as of now so... I am more used to V6, I6 and I4s. I'm not a fan of I4 engine noises though. The B48 I recently had for a few days was much better compared to the N20 that was in my 328i.

The 430i I drove with the B48 sounded MUCH better and it liked to rev higher at low gears, something the N20 didn't want to do much. Also, there are more than other reasons why BMW won't be a V8 into the M3/M4 again. Some of you probably would guess it has to do with weight too. Yeah if they put the V8 from a M5 into the M3, it would be a beast but the M-DCT would need to be probably reprogramed/reworked to handle the load, then there is the weight problem as the F90 is also a porker. M3/M4 will always be as light as possible, BMW won't put something so heavy into the car again. Of course if they put in the V6 they patent a while ago on the thread here that would be great but... I can dream I guess.
