How do I know if this is real 3M Crystalline Tint?
Just got my car tint, and although this may be a dumb question but how I do know if this is actual 3M Crystalline Tint? What's stopping the shop from just throwing on regular Color Stable or another brand onto the car and telling me it's Crystalline?
For those who has Crystalline, how much of a difference was the heat rejection? I sat in the car the other day, and I don't notice a huge difference. I have the 5 windows including windshield done. I took an IR thermometer and took a reading between two cars I had sitting in the driveway (one tinted, and one untinted) and the temp were practically the same. |

I had the exact same anxiety when I got my Crystalline installed. One thing I noticed is that it took about a month for the full heat blocking effects to kick in. Maybe it had to fully dry? Not sure. Either way, once that settled the effects were incredibly noticeable. I have 40% all around and the difference is night and day with the windows up or down.
You should also have received a lifetime warranty pamphlet with your receipt. That should have the stock number of the tint roll that your installed used written within. You can call 3M to verify if that stock was shipped to that installer. As guess mentioned the color of the tint also shifts at different angles. Most of the time it looks brownish but can look blue or purple at different angles. You can also dribble water over the outside and you should see the water's reflection appear in rainbow colors. Lastly, for next time, you should ask the installer to not remove the watermark. Crystalline is watermarked with 3M at about every 6" mark. Surefire way to tell it's genuine. |

Thanks for the advice guys.
I guess I will just have to wait for the heat rejection affect to kick in. So far its only been on the car for a week. As you mentioned, I did get a lifetime warranty hanger with the install. But I just wasn't sure how much weight it was considering I figured they can just hand those out. Haven't tried the whole angle/color shift thing yet but my installer did mention that it will look like different colors at times. It did come with the 3M water marks! He actually asked me if i wanted them remove and I told him yes. He missed some and I ended up removing the rest myself with rubbing alcohol. Wasn't sure if other 3M products came with these watermarks. |

Can someone take a pic of this blue/purple phenomenon? I can't seem to see it. I only see green/brown.
Washed the car the other day, no rainbow effect. Or does the water have to be inside of the window? |
