So I need some advice guys, hoping some of you have good ideas.
I got a 2016 M4 so my car isn't affected but my fathers 2015 335i xdrive needs to be recalled. It basically had everything fully loaded on the car including both stages of the M performance package that were offered. So the 2016 is now the 340i but they don't have the upgraded performance package which doesn't have the better exhaust. Basically he will be losing out on the better sound. Can anyone suggest what we should ask the dealer? Apart from getting his money back we want a better or equivalent car and sadly they can't offer that right now. So we are stuck and need ideas. The only thing we proposed is to wait for Dinan Stage 1 and have them install that once its released for 2016's since our dealership had a deal with them for 2015 Dinan's that are under warranty. |

You're right, apparently they upped the output to 335hp in 2014. Did not know that.

I'm just gonna be completely frank. You will not notice the difference of 15 hps. Also, the 340i is likely underrated, whereas the PPK package is probably bang on. Hence, difference is probably even less. It just comes down to sound. In that case, wait for a exhaust to come out. Make sure dealer accounts for it so you don't pay for it down the road. Budds?

335 vs 320 HP
Hi guys. I believe you missing the point. M Power kit is not free feature, BMW doesn't give it for free and it costs $2800. The difference is not only in HP but also in tuning, how it drives, how it shifts, how it feels. Some people buying Dinan upgrade to add few extra horses, some buying M Power kit. Would you agree to take 320 instead of 335 you paid for, what the heck it is only 60 HP less ?. I think BMW should try to find similar or better car for all affected guys.

Honestly it seems like a small detail but they managed to sell us the car because of all the extra performance upgrades and the fact that it was more unique that a typical 335i so we don't really want to "downgrade" to a less powerful. I know the power won't be a huge difference but that's not really the point.
What do you guys think of this. So they can't replace the car exactly because they don't have the exhaust and power kit. Our new idea is to ask for an M3 with a discount. Basically I got a $3700 (CAD) discount on my M4, so we were thinking of asking for a $6000 - $7000 (CAD) on my dad's replacement? Do you think they will bite? In my head its a good deal, they get more interest payments and a more expensive car sold and my dad get's an M3. |

i doubt they would bite. but theirs no harm in trying.
BMW Canada needs to replace your car like for like. i don't see them taking that big of a hit, unless they can find you an in stock car which would be 2015 instead of 2016. |

for asking $6-7K discount on a M3, instead of that, you may want to consider and have a better chance at getting a M6 GC or coupe, currently it has factory credit of $15K off and then ask for another $10K off from the dealer side = $25K off in total, if not enough, press for another $5K on top as compensation. Therefore, a $130K car is projected to be discounted to $100K which would almost be at the same price range as a fully loaded M3/4.

I agree, that definition of what is "equivalent" is kind of undefined. However, do you think Honda Civic is equivalent to 335?. Both cars have 4 wheels, 4 doors and 1 engine. For some people why are equivalent, for rest of us they are not. Trust me when I drive my 335 with performance exhaust, people turning heads. I paid for it. And I want it back. I just want to have new car the way as before, nothing more. BMW screw it up and they are responsible to replace my car the way it is. I should be enjoying my car, instead I drive to dealership, burn gas, spend my time. Who do you think should pay for all of that?. Customers or BMW ? BMW knew about the problem and still decided to move these cars. |

or pick any model and click incentive while at it, you can also ask the dealer of loyalty incentive as well ... even though, technically, you are not entitled to it but on the other side, you are getting into another car. LOL |

P.S. I hope they will offer loyalty incentives. Technically it is another new sale. Last edited by Usser555; 09-17-2015 at 02:52 PM.. |
