BMW needs to follow trends to make money, so they build what customer asking for. Self driving cars and car sharing is the future, at least in main cities. The company changed already a lot: FWD cars, vans, M AWD, hybrid... |

I hate to say it but some of us might need to go American "muscle" in the future for our ICE performance car needs. I'm gonna need to grow back my mullet and buy some gold chains . I've also known about the new plant in Mexico for some time now. My concern is that plant will be the nail in coffin for ED. Hate to say it but BMW has become the German Toyota : |

I actually had them researching doing them in white stitching so it'd be subtle but the wife clock ran out so I just told them to do whatever they wanted. |

Beautiful car and so envious of another ED trip. This week was a year since I did mine and I didn't want to leave! Wife says I don't get another one oh, right, I didn't take her with me :

Just got a phone call from BMW NA (re: interior individual stitching) so I thought I would share: The "M" badging on the center console, or any other custom stitching for that matter needs to occur during the build; they won't do any afterwords. Seems to make sense, except that the location on the center console where the "M" would be located is pretty easy to remove and reinstall...oh well.
That said, if anyone would be willing to get it installed and swap mine non-M center piece, let me know (Full black merino leather) Ok, done usurping this ED thread |

Are you going to flash tune your ECU via the newly announced OBDII port, or not convinced? A coder informed me my tune might be written over at the 1,200 mile service (interested in the GTS DCT coding, euro MDM, & anti-dazel LED's), as I asked the German tuner when he performed the work and he told me the ECU is not touched at the 1st service. :

Your new M4 color combo turned out looking so awesome! I didn't realize your F83 Opal White interior, including the backs of front seats, would have so much more coverage than my F82 M4 Opal White interior - better stay on top of cleaning off all of the suntan lotion Also, the White Ash trim looks beautiful with the Opal White leather.

Plant Spartanburg has two test tracks after production is completed, either a indoor or outdoor track for each vehicle. Quality inspection at the plant involves going up to 150 kpm on a dyno for each vehicle.

I did a custom tour and they said the M engines are made in Steyr Austria and shipped in, and they showed us a bunch of crates that were marked with Styer on them. That said, (a) who knows if that means all engines, and (b.) they may be started in Steyr and finished in Germany.

Gentlemen, we have a issue of false manufacturing country of origin with BMW NA and BMW AG as the monroney sticker lists Germany. Maybe the engine blocks, foundry, ect are produced at Styar and the S55 final assembly is Munich? The F80 & F83 production is at Werk Regensburg, F82 is Werk Munich. I agree that all indications are Austria for the S55, but at least label that way on the monroney. There is misinformation somewhere along the supply chain.

Could just be regulations around the country of origin (like with ships and their "flags"), and could be final assembly or testing or even installation ... |
