Onboard system glitching

Hi all, just recently purchased my F8X about two weeks ago and a few times since then my onboard system began to start glitch out and change music choices, entering different menus, and even calling random people on my contact list. The only way I was able to shut it off was by turning off the screen. Has anyone else encountered this?

It happened to me a couple times and I could hear the noise the phones make when your typing a text in the back ground through speakers even though no one was texting. Do you have apple car play? When I shut it off it finally stopped. It's happened twice on my 18. It's annoying. same thing kept switching songs and sources on it's own.

Yes Carplay was on the first time, today it was not. Just the normal BT connection. It also started doing the clicking sound and random switching while I was using the XM source.

yeah but sometimes it attemps to start carplay for whatever reason and that's when things go haywire for me. even after I shut it off beforehand when it started doing it again I had to go into settings and turn car play off. Its so annoying. My 15 never had any issues at all.

cool thanks for the feedback! Guess CarPlay is essentially a waste of money then since its buggy

Did shutting off carplay fix the problem? My iDrive system has started randomly selecting menus and making the clicking sounds.

I just recently activated CarPlay again and seems to be working well now.

This happens to my car from time to time, and I do not have car-play. There is a TSB for this (I don't have the number, but wish I did) which requires replacing the touchscreen. There is another thread called something like "my idrive is possessed".

My suggestion is next time it happens, grab a phone video since BMW will likely not be able to reproduce, then you should be able to lobby for the TSB. I'm waiting for mine to happen again so I can tape the evidence.

I did the reset by holding the volume key down until it rebooted. Hope this fixes it but we will see.

Get your screen replaced under the TSB...the problem is related to the touchscreen

Issue is bmw won't change it unless there is proof.
