New F80 M3 / F82 M4 Big Brake Kits from Brembo just released!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

Brembo has been an industry leader in braking and friction technology for nearly 50 years, and was the first in the performance car industry to bring true competition car technology to every day driven street cars. Brembo also goes to lengths far beyond any other brake manufacturer to control the manufacturing and build process from start to finish- literally pouring their own raw metal in Brembo owned foundry facilities, enabling Brembo to control the metallurgy of their brake calipers and rotors from the absolute raw material stage.

For these reasons and many more, all of us at IND are thrilled to announce Brembo's new F8x M3 and M4 applications!

Brembo's new M3/M4 applications will include a host of options, including their industry standard GT caliper kits with steel discs, the excellent GT-R caliper kits with steel discs, and finally the new CCM-R carbon disc systems as well with both GT and GT-R calipers.

The GT kits will utilize Brembo's renowned 380x34mm front and 380x28mm rear discs, with wide annulus, excellent thermal capacity, and Brembo's floating disc system. The GT monobloc caliper is one of the most rigid in the industry giving the driver great pedal feel, excellent pad wear with little taper, and reliable braking performance on and off the track.

The upgraded GT-R calipers offer all of the benefits of the GT calipers, but add a number of features that allow them to operate at an even higher temperature. GT-R calipers are machined from a single piece of billet, which allows Brembo to apply their unique nickel plating- a technology pulled directly from their Formula 1 program. The GT-R calipers also feature vented pistons for even better temperature control.

Finally, the CCM-R disc option allows for the ultimate brake setup, utilizing Brembo's new carbon ceramic discs for absolutely flawless performance.

We're excited to see these kits land at IND, and are confident that with the correct pads we can substantially improve upon the M3/M4's already excellent braking performance.

Will be interesting to see how these sell given the strong initial comments about the stock iron rotors, let alone the CCBs. Might change once most people start tracking their cars.

Agreed! I do believe that the original brakes on these cars are worlds ahead of the E9x parts, but with that said there is still quite a bit of room for improvement. The disc material, overall weight of the bell, and especially pad surface area will all be contributing factors.

Heh. I'm partial to Stoptech brakes, if only because it's cool to have your pistons say "STOPTECH"

All kidding aside, I haven't heard anything bad about the stock brakes, CCBs or steel, and I wonder, even for a heavily tracked M3/4, would these be worthwhile?

Stoptech's consumables are a lot cheaper than brembo's also but I still bet these will be cool. Not sure if BBK will have many buyers this time around though. M cars finally have good stoppers. Need more of the forum track rats to beat the piss out of their cars first for a final verdict.

While from a design standpoint alone I do believe that this kit will still provide a substantial improvement over the factory steel brake kit, that notion is of course not enough on it's own.

IND will conduct extensive testing on our own M3, in order to document the performance of both the original braking system, as well as Brembo's GT kit. As always, if no gains are found, we will report just that.

StopTech calipers also seem to have more pad options.

And wow, 380mm even in the rear??

Ilia, can you confirm that Brembo sized the pistons in their calipers so as not to change the stock brake bias, and if not, how much bias changes and in which direction?

I also don't see anything about the number of pistons in the calipers. I know that more is not necessarily better, but I'm curious nonetheless.

Could you send the prices to me as well? Nothing on your website yet. Thanks!

Yes, I am sure it will change The stock blues are worlds ahead of the E92 setup, but as good as CCB's? Lengthy track time will tell.

LOL, I should have read this first. The unsprung weight alone is enough to convince me.

I think that the stock steel brakes will be okay with better pads for track days. Brembo is def. better, but I think that not that much better than it was on e9xm3.
Stop tech and AP racing are cheaper and good too.
I hope that some one will release just new callipers (6/4) for the stock rotors.

+1. I don't think BBK will be a night and day difference, unlike the E9x.

These will be strictly bling for sure. Especially with the CCBs from BMW only being like 1k more than a steel brembo setup.

If you plan on doing a BBK, why not do one right from the factory?

For 1k more, I don't think you can beat the stock CCB option.
And it will be less, when you factor in shipping, installation etc.
And the stock CCB incorporates into your monthly payment rather than dropping 10% of the car's price on a BBK.

Good luck in getting the ceramic brake rotors covered in less than 40k mi after heavy track usage.
