Akrapovic exhaust are a work of art. Almost too nice to put on the car. They could hang on the wall and be stared at for hours.

I think the stock would be good if it did not have what rattle when coming off throttle.

How are you getting $7k out of ~EUR3900? EUR/USD is about 1.36 right now, implying ~$5,300.

Stock vs. Akrapovic

You guys are all forgetting one very important thing: the stock pipes are not just pipes. There include built in flaps that open and close depending on power, all controlled by the computer. You install and Akra and you lose all that.

No, not with the Evolution. http://www.akrapovic.com/#!/car/prod...=671&phaseId=1

"The Evolution performance exhaust system for the BMW consists of a single-central muffler with valves and bigger link pipe tubes with a middle muffler, all designed to make the performance and workmanship of the Evolution as perfect as its looks. With no second set of cats—(unlike the stock system), the whole system is designed to give the smoothest flow—and the power and torque gains of the BMW with the Evolution system are simply amazing. Crafted entirely from titanium, the Evolution system has a unique sound to complement its substantial increase over a very wide rpm range. In-depth engineering has produced a sound completely different from the stock system, giving a deep and sporty sound – with no unwanted overtones or drone, and also a significant change to the sound with the valves in the open or closed positions. The Evolution system needs no re-programming of the ECU because it doesn’t trigger any warning lights. With tailpipes in titanium or carbon, and a handcrafted rear diffuser, all available as optional extras, the BMW Evolution is as beautiful as it is powerful."

Ye gotta love this forum. If you think you know something and it is wrong you are instantly disproved...

Great... Now I have to fork over five grand for the Akra system...

I'll be interested in Eisenmann. Love the Sport system on my E92 for a DD, and it was $3k (though not Ti).

But that's just it. I'm the type of person that goes all or nothing. If I do get a new exhaust (which I probably won't, not for at least a couple years) I'd go all the way up.
