It is an absolute hoot on the track and an addictive plaything on your favorite twisty back road. "

Stock vs. Akrapovic
You guys are all forgetting one very important thing: the stock pipes are not just pipes. There include built in flaps that open and close depending on power, all controlled by the computer. You install and Akra and you lose all that.

"The Evolution performance exhaust system for the BMW consists of a single-central muffler with valves and bigger link pipe tubes with a middle muffler, all designed to make the performance and workmanship of the Evolution as perfect as its looks. With no second set of cats—(unlike the stock system), the whole system is designed to give the smoothest flow—and the power and torque gains of the BMW with the Evolution system are simply amazing. Crafted entirely from titanium, the Evolution system has a unique sound to complement its substantial increase over a very wide rpm range. In-depth engineering has produced a sound completely different from the stock system, giving a deep and sporty sound – with no unwanted overtones or drone, and also a significant change to the sound with the valves in the open or closed positions. The Evolution system needs no re-programming of the ECU because it doesn’t trigger any warning lights. With tailpipes in titanium or carbon, and a handcrafted rear diffuser, all available as optional extras, the BMW Evolution is as beautiful as it is powerful."

Akropovic alternatives
I'll be interested in Eisenmann. Love the Sport system on my E92 for a DD, and it was $3k (though not Ti).

But that's just it. I'm the type of person that goes all or nothing. If I do get a new exhaust (which I probably won't, not for at least a couple years) I'd go all the way up.
