I'll have better pics after my full detailing this weekend. I personally don't mind the white stitching and for the price I paid ($177). I personally could not justify the extra markup of the M tri-stitching, but it does look awesome.

I would imagine that if you didn't like the look, you could take a black sharpie to the threads and it'll look like the OE boot from a color perspective. |

Mine looks great. I love the contrast actually.

I am having the urge to move back to stock shifter knob or some other aftermarket one as this one is not completely as per my expectations as its not as weighted as i thought. Anyone moved away from the m performance one ? Secondly its very small and prefer a more roundish weighted one, any other options?

From IND with tri-stitch boot to match M Performance E-brake boot and steering wheel

IMHO, the white stitch looks pretty awful with SO, especially without the matching e-brake boot. This is as much a cosmetic mod as a functional one. If you were to take that boot to a shop and have them custom stitch the tri-colors, it would be about the same price as the IND, and probably not look as good. To me, it's worth the cost. I love the tri-color stitch on the wheel, and the e-brake and boot complete the look. I don't mean to offend, that's just my taste. I think the white stitch works for black interiors, that already have white stitching. On a different note, the pedals look awesome though!

I've always loved the zhp knob from my e46 and e82 days. I had the performance knob on my e82 and I did like it but it just didn't make the cut. Had it on for about a month. Gave it to my friend. She loves it though.

Hi guys, so I went to my dealership to have the car looked at as it was pulling to the right. My thought was that since it was going to be there I would have them install the m-performance shifter. They didn't have it in stock so they ordered it and they had it in the next day. They showed it to me in person when I dropped off the car to make sure I liked and I told them that they can go ahead and install it.
Later that day they called me to tell me the car was ready for pick up but they informed me they weren't able to install the shifter as it "didn't fit properly". I told them that I am quite surprised as I have seen several forum members with this shifter installed. So my question is, is there a difference between the MY 2015 vs 2016 and M3 vs M4? I think they had ordered the shifter for a 2015 M3 but we assumed it would fit my MY 2016 M4. P.S. The car is no longer pulling to the right! |

Maybe if it was one or the other, but it just looks too aftermarket and not perfectly "in tune" with the rest of the interior for me. Proper glossy CF, tristitch, light up, and perhaps saying just M/// instead of making me feel like I was adding parts to my 2011 335 again with the "performance" moniker and I think I'd be in. I'm not knocking you guys for getting it just mentioning why I don't think I will. No offense meant in any way here.

Make sure the gear shift you got is not for another model, there are a couple different ones out there. There is no difference between MY 2015 & 2016.

Just installed my M performance shift knob and E brake after reading this thread. I pulled up on the OEM shift knob so hard I ripped the wires out of the knob that light it up, right at the base of the knob. I disconnected it first but somehow it got caught when I pulled it. The E brake handle was harder but I used a small flat head screw driver and lightly tapped on the end with a rubber mallet, eventually pried off. I lightly tapped the new handle on with the rubber mallet to seat it fully. Both tri-stitch pieces look awesome. I have Amaro brown with white stitching inside. The M performance shifter reminds me of my old S2000 shift knob, feels really good that you can get your hand over the top of the knob vs just grabbing the sides (if that makes sense).

I haven't gotten the matching parking handbrake because the matte CF might be too much of a contrast against the OEM gloss CF. I'll have to wait to see one in person to decide. With the shift knob you really can't tell the diff in person.
