Every M car there's some drama. I carn't believe we're dropping the in line 6 for a V8 remember that from 7 years back. Now the inline 6 is turbo charged. Just like with the V8 it will be accepted as the new norm. Does look and looks like it drives great.

This guy sums up exactly how I'm feeling about this car. Better in every way but take your aural daily experience IF you were one to like the high revs, and. The lack of special engine noise and seeing 8600 ROMs as you hear it howl like a race car, continues to be well over 50 percent or more of the pleasure I derive daily. So while slower, , when dealing with 400 plus HP cars, I feel there is a point where your not going to use all extra power daily but you will enjoy a special engine noise a la e90 every time in the car.
I'll get a new M3 in couple years for LCI bug certainly won't replace my e92. Just an addition. Same way I felt about m5 only I hate m5s looks, weight and boring sounding engine. Yet it destroys an e60. But id still take an e60 m5 over it |

The last two minutes where he complains about the engine and sound seems to be the overall consensus. It's a great car but it should have had a better engine. When the highlight of an M engine is that it's fuel efficient and green but lacks soul then there is a problem and this review nailed the complaints about the car perfectly.

I agree to some extent but regardless of cylinders, the last 3 M3 engines were allhigh revving screaming aural experiences which is a dramatic difference than this new eenginehave you seen the dismay by fans and drivers over quiet new turbo f1 cars? Its not about cylinder # but the noise and turbos so drastically rake away from noise you end up with a car that is far superior on paper but driving pleasure doesn't so easily square

I'm afraid my current 335 sounds way better than my new m4 will...

M division engineers cant change the laws of physics. Yes they had to make it better and follow the stiff new emission regulations and keep the price tag the same this is an amazing achievement. The sound can always be much better with performance exhaust or after market one for those who want more. Torque is what people feel on the street driving much more than the sound for most. That huge leap in torque is a gonna be awesome. This is a product no one is twisting your arm to buy it. Stop with the winning and if you find a better car for you than buy that one. You can't please everyone but this is a huge leap in the right direction the way i see it.

I'm really starting to want to take all these reviews with a grain of salt.
Doesn't seem fair to comment on the car's handling capabilities when the driver is just drifting it for 80% of the review.. Look back to the way they would test the C63 AMG's. They're driving it like its an over powered car for the chassis. Interesting comment about the engine though. Sounds like a recurring theme between other reviews as well.

Only considering the videos where I could hear the exhaust note I don't think it sound so bad, at least from the outside. Could it sound better? Yes It could, but in my opinon, all the previously M3 could do it.

Why not? Based on the clips we've heard so far, i'm pretty confident an e92 335is (M Performance Exhaust) sounds MUCH better than the stock f80 exhaust. Besides, we don't know what "335i" exhaust he is comparing it to. Maybe he has an Akrapovic system on his 335i, for all we know. |

The one you heard ... was it stock? Performance exhaust? Akrapovic? Not trying to argue. Just saying the f80 really does not sound special to me and a 335i with an after market (MPE, Akra) exhaust might actually sound better. Just my observation so far based on the drugs i've been taking. |
