Looks sweet! I was thinking about putting a rack on my E92 M3. How expensive is it? Cause the wife and I ride alot, we even just took the M3 to Cape cod, about a 8 hr deive. Would love to put a rack on it but I might sell it so I have been hesitant. ..

Well as for the selling part, i had this rack on my E90 M3 and it fits my F80 perfect. The rack has independent costs as to what exactly you want. Each cross bar, you need 2, costs around 100. You will need the "BMW" kit to utilize your roof mounts, 75 and you only need one. Then its what ever you want for attachments. Each bike sled is 150, i have 2. You can put what ever you want on once you get the cross bars and the BMW install kit. I think i have around 600 in the whole setup, but like i said i also had it on my last car. Even if you get a totally different car, a lot of the pieces are interchangeable, so to put this setup on another car may only cost 100 bucks. Hope this helps.

For sure, for stock wheels I absolutely love these. My next purchase will be H&R Sports with BBD FI-R's in 19"

I myself have a Thule rack, they're good, and somehow Thule racks on BMWs look cool.

I'm also putting a bike and kayak rack on my M3.
I think it's just a marker of people who have hobbies and passions, and it makes the car look less like a desk ornament! Glad you use your car like a car, well played sir.

My wife drives an M4 with carbon roof, it has the flip doors but no mounting points on the inside. The old E9X with carbon had these mounting points. From what I have found is that you can not mount to the F8X carbon roof, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

I still think this is an absolutely crazy oversight by BMW.. And there is NO mention of it in the brochures etc.
I wonder how many customers who don't use this forum have ordered CF and been very disappointed when they offered up their roof racks.. |

I think with the M4 you are out of luck but with the M3 you can buy a universal fit roof rack with the correct flanges from Yakima or Thule and it will work just fine. Granted, it won't be as clean of an install as the OEM mounting points but it will work just fine and in my experience they are faster to put on and take off.

The only down part to the universal aside from the clean look is you are rubbing against the car itself. Granted it's not going to ruin anything right away but over time you could run into rubbing issues.

If you have to have one on a carbon roof look into the suction mounted racks
