New owner winter tyres
Hello, I've just this week acquired a 65 plate M4!
The first thing i need to do is source some winter tyres. Does anyone know if these hankooks are any good? James |

I'm running those Hankooks at the moment, they are good in cold dry conditions and performed well when I got caught out in a bit of snow, however in greasy conditions and the warmer temps we often get they feel horrid.

Look at some Nokians. I did ten years ago and haven't been without them for ten winters since! Two CTS-V's and my X1. My M4 sits in the winter, but if I was driving it year round it would also have Nokians on it. Oh, great color choice on your YMB !!!!!!

I've just fitted Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S (from Camskill). They feel a tiny bit 'knobblier' then the Conti's I took off but apart from that I'm very pleased with how they ride and grip. Now if only it would snow.....

I would say this: keep the tyres as best you can afford. I would not put anything less than the likes and equivalents of Conti or Michelin on the car. Look at reviews because tyres are most important thing is braking and traction in dry, wet, snow. Everything else is irrelevant to your and passengers (family?) safety.

I put kumho winters on mine a month ago, awesome below 4 degrees, horrible in warmer temps, I've just put summer tyres back on, luckily I bought a spare set of wheels so I could swop at will.

I've previously had PA and Sottozeros and they were much better in mild temps, I won't bother saving the £300 again, I'll go for the Michelins.

I was on a budget so forged were out of the question. These came in at around £1200ish for the set. I'm using 437m for winters and these for mpss.

There is no getting around that bit, I duck and dive through Baldock and cross country to Essex on the A507 to the A10.

I'll keep my eyes open for a ymb on Mondays then and give you a wave. I guess you come down a1m and off at services junction. I join a1m there at any time between 730 and 830 on Mondays. Maybe we will cross paths one day at the roundabout. And if we do I'll notice way too late and wave when I'm out of site lol
