You'd have more chance of having a Golf R or the like stolen than an M3/4, thankfully M cars aren't really coveted by the thieves.

They like cars that can be driven flat out easily like the R or RS6 and cars that can be stripped and then the parts sold on ebay or gumtree to jazz up a standard or older model the Golf R and old facelifted RRS spring to mind.

The M3/4 doesn't really fall into that category, worrying over nothing I'd say.

Yes but through my wife and their car scheme. Getting our second car sorted out first and then dealing with the m3

They get stolen all the time round here Damo, but things are probably different down there.

We had a gang taking them off people in broad daylight on their drives.

I'm looking at possibly moving down to this area in the next 12-18 months so good to know if I buy an M4 it's likely to be safe!!

Slightly OT... but how do you guys find Elms in Stortford? I used Elms Cambridge for my current 2 cars and whilst the sales side of things was good, the aftercare could have been better.

I have used Elms Stansted for over 10 years but made the move to Coopers in Chelmsford last year and do not regret it one bit. Elms were good but never seemed on the ball to me.. they had to be constantly pushed and nagged to get things done and agreed. I found myself telling the sales and 'M specialist' there about the car, what functions did what and upgrades that were available etc., rather than the other way round...

I bought my m4 and x5 from elms stansted. No complaints from the sales side but the guy I dealt with has since left. Service dept are polite and try to be helpful but that said they took 10 days to fix a simple problem with my mpe (but gave me a £300 tv system for the x5 for free as an apology). Plus one of my cf tips fell off as it wasn't fitted securely and my front mp lip wasn't fitted properly either (noticed by another dealer)

In contrast specialist cars stevenage (my local dealer) are bloody expensive in comparison for car sales negotiations and Labor costs but seem to know what they are doing.

May i suggest this;

lots of reviews, ask bmw to fit it for you and
if you havent already, get BMW Trackstar 5, they can take the keys but without the fob it will call the cops and wake you up then it will tell the police where it is, records for 5hrs after you park up. Your insurance will love it.

I would not want it back, if it goes I want it gone.

I'd have to get rid of it if they recovered it couldn't stand the thought of the scum bags being sat in my car.
