My question is how can you have an F8x car and NOT have it be your daily driver?? My M4 is my only car. It HAS to be my daily driver!

I live in a very large city too where everything is spread out. I mean, to say something is "only 20 minutes away" means it's practically right down the street.

I still don't put quite that many miles on my car, about 20K-22K per year. Oh, and I lease too so I'll be well over my allotted 15K per year. I just prefer paying for mileage (usage) than I do depreciation. Anyway, I've contemplated buying a beater to keep some of the miles off, take road trips to SoCal, Vegas, etcetera, but why spend the money on a beater when I can spend that money on extra miles and drive the car I really want to?

That said, if you have a company car than I fully understand putting it to good use. I was actually offered a job a couple years ago at the same time I accepted my current job that came with a company car as well as a company iPhone. I kid you not when I say that it genuinely bothered me that I would have to drive their Camry and use their last gen iPhone instead of my own. I won't tell you that was the only reason I turned the job down but it was definitely a factor.

I receive a car allowance each month instead which is what I've always been accustomed to, so I put that to "good use" on my M3.

Different strokes for different folks I guess, so rock on!

P.S. - Merry Christmas!
No offense taken as I actually 100% agree. I just meant I wouldn't drive my personal car for work unless they reimbursed me for those expenses. I work at home but even for the short drive to the airport I will bill the company
If you use your car for work, can't you write off a lot of the expenses on your taxes? I'm not super smart on taxes so I could be wrong.

Wat?

Why buy a car like this and not drive it?

The whole point is to be able to enjoy what you spend a large portion of your life doing - Driving to work.

I drive 25 or 35 mins to work each way. That's 1/16 of my awake hours on work days. That's a big chunk of my day.

Why spend all this money and not use the car for that time period?

will by my only car. So DD or course. Glad to see there are many others on here who use this for long commutes to work. I will probably put about 17k miles per year on it. Damn near an hour of my day is for commuting, why not make it as enjoyable as possible?

I'd imagine there might be two schools of thought:

1. The M-car is a really nice car, but it's still a car, and I'll use it for my chores/commute/driving.

2. The M-car is my prized possession, and I'll only take it out once in a while to minimize wearing out its prize-ness.

Why this distinction?? Someone made a comment recently to me: "That's hell of a daily driver." Is it because of the cost of the car? Would you feel the same way about a $15k car?

Yeah, my ///M4 is my DD. I'm amazed at how competent it is as a DD, actually. Sure makes that daily drive a lot more fun! Woot!

Daily Driver, life's to short.
drive it, and enjoy every minute of it.

Do you want the next guy to just thank you for keeping it nice for him...

Tho mine does try to Kill me every now and again....
not sure what that's all about.

I switch between my X6M and M4 during the week. Depends on which one I feel like driving to work.

Other than when it's snowing and I drive my Jeep, I drive the M every day. It's a relatively docile car when everything is in comfort mode.

We are all very fortunate to have an M car. Every minute it spends idling is a minute wasted.

I'm getting the most of my monthly payments by driving it as much as I can.

My M3 is my daily driver, but I only put about 7,000 miles a year on my car, so I guess it's all relative.

I do lot a lot of business traveling plus I work from home a couple days a week, so I just don't pile up the mileage.

My F80 is basically my daily driver. I have a MK5 VW R32 that I try to alternate between but it currently needs some engine work so it's just collecting dust. But still, I mostly drive the M3.

It is my daily driver and I do about 15k a year. I just wish the DCT was as smooth as the S4's. Other than that, it offers the perfect balance between comfort and sportiness.
