2 km for ED Welt Delivery - am curious to see the differential between drop off and delivery mileage when I pick up the vehicle in the US

One thing to mention: My dealership goes to a local gas station to fill the tank before delivery.
The gas station is about 1.5 miles round trip from the dealer. So if it arrived with 3-4 miles on it, I'd expect it to be ~6 miles on it when I pick it up. |

Had 1.4 miles on the clock when I picked it up from the Welt.

13. Most I've ever picked up a car with, which makes me wonder if they took it for a brief spin. Had X5 delivered to same dealership a few months ago and it had 1 mile on the odometer.

As part of the final "Quality Check" the dealer does a PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) to verify that there are no problems when the customer gets the vehicle. The paper work is usually with the vehicle and signed by the technician. There might be checks that require driving the vehicle and having the powertrain at operating temp.
I do not have a copy, but someone might be able to post for the F80/F82. |

My odometer statement said 4 but realized it had 18 when I got it. Dealer insists no one was joy riding, they just took it for detailing & gas. Not a big deal in the end.

For a car you ordered?
I went and checked out the car I had ordered today. It has 22 miles on it. It was in the dealership's possession for a week while both myself and my sales advisor were on vacation. Anyone think all of those extra miles were put on before the car reached the dealership? The gas station is less than a mile from the dealership so that's not the explanation. Is there any possible way to know the mileage on the car when it came off the truck, such as a shipping manifest of some sort? The paperwork in the glovebox did not have mileage information on it. |

My car (e90) had 24 miles when delivered. I freaked out. Now that it has 3000 times more miles on it I can really see how badly it was abused for 0.033% of its life. Worst BMW M3 EVER. It never breaks down, giving me no reason to visit the dealership and ogle at the newest version on the lot. Curses.

It's great the car has been so reliable for you. My E93 M3 had 40 miles on it when I picked it up and the engine is toast at 95k miles. Just as you surely would, I've wondered if the way those initial miles were put on - which I know for a fact was in an aggressive manner - could have contributed.
In my mind, the fewer mysteries and surprises that come along with a $70k purchase, the better the experience. All the more now that I have 4000 lb. paper weight to deal with. Think of it as minimizing risk surface area. Quote:

LOL...dealer tried to sell me one with 130km on it and told me it was normal. Albeit, they had taken it to a tinter to have it tinted, but that is far from normal.

My car goes into the detailers hands tomorrow (Tuesday). I can't pick it up till Friday.
Yeah, I don't like it. Talked to my CA and "of course it's not touched/driven by anyone except me personally to fill up the gas tank" I trust him. But I don't trust others. We shall see. More than 10 miles on it will make me angry. |
