Moving to Portland for work. Where to live?

Hey dv8pdx, I live in Gresham also with my M4 as a DD. Haven't been driving it though cause of the snow.

NW Portland has its good neighborhoods and certainly an area I would consider. Anything Westside, NW, SW Portland, Beaverton, Lake Oswego and West Linn. You can find safe neighborhoods in all these areas and close to Washington Square mall. Tigard is nice but like King city, Sherwood are locked in by just a few major roads. There is a reason housing is more expensive on the west side.......and more stable. Oh, some Beaverton elementary schools are very good.

I hadnt driven it in the snow at all. Finally snow all melted and Friday I took it for a nice drive to work to visit my night crew and some guy in a 92 honda civic thought it was his duty to check me because my car was too loud and drove into the side of me. His front tire, since it was turning into me caught in my spokes, chewed up his rim and bounced him up onto my passanger fender. All at 25 mph. But... his tire did burn into my paint on the fender, scratched up the rear rim and broke the shocks and front right suspension since his rim got stuck in my tire. Flatbed will be here in the morning and the repair shop estimates 2-3 months for repairs because they are so backed up with snow damaged cars. People with road rage shouldnt drive. I would have been safer driving in the snow. Lol. So it looks like the new Tacoma will be my DD for a few months.

Glad you found the place! I lived in se Portland for most of my life and it was great. Had a 3200 sq ft home there. Now I'm renting it out and moved into deeper Gresham where it has been great to me. Very quiet area, everyone minds their own business and are polite. I was thinking of happy valley/clackamas, but everything was overpriced there for what I would find in Gresham. Looked at a house on the hills in happy valley and it was 2800sq for 1.2mill. Picked a nice spot in Gresham for 270k with a 4 car garage. Idk how the school district is yet since my daughter is still young.

I still think most parts of Portland are getting worse, but there is still some nice areas.
