Where can scheduled maintenance be performed?

For a leased BMW, does the scheduled maintenance need to be performed at a certified dealer? 1200 mile service was done at dealer. I know I have to pay out of pocket, but are these not just oil changes? Thanks

For a leased BMW all maintenance should be covered (including brakes) except your tires.

Depends on the Service

The standard Euro M3/M4 schedule calls for : (US may differ slightly, aswell as some other countries)

Engine oil + filter (every service)
Microfilter (every service)
Spark plugs (every 2nd service)
Engine Air Filter (every 2nd service)
Final drive oil (every 3rd service)
Vehicle inspection (Approx Every 4 years depending on country)
Brake Pads (as required)
Brake Discs (as required)

Edit:
US Requirements

Engine oil + filter (every service)
Microfilter (every 2nd service)
Spark plugs (every 3rd service)
Engine Air Filter (every 3rd service)
Final drive oil (every 5th service)

I'm really curious, but why you would want to pay out of pocket when the dealership will do it for free? I mean you kinda already paid for the service when you bought the car.

Of course you can, no one is stopping you. But as mentioned, why would you do this when the dealer will do it for free??

If I install a JB4, I would rather pay for a service visit at my local Indy shop than pull the JB4 out and reinstall.

Dealer won't deny you warranty maintanence because of a JB4. If you roll up with a drivetrain malfunction and the car is in limp mode then yes. You might have an issue. Oil change? Take it to the dealer.
