Turner Motorsports Tune + AA Midpipe Review

Hey guys, apologize for the delay! But this midwest weather does not help lol. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with my Turner Motorsports Tune and my Active Autowerke Midpipe.

Turner Motorsports Tune

The tune is everything I wanted, and then some! I think anyone on the fence about this piggyback, or majority of the other piggybacks available will not be disappointed. Also, the new found power is much appreciated.

This post is not meant to bash other tuners, or other tuning options. This review is just to show my thought process for choosing this specific tune, and my reaction once it was installed.

I will start by saying with this build, I was looking for a bump in power, but I didn't want to sacrifice drivability. I didn't want to mess around with maps, and I didn't plan on using different types of fuel. I wanted a "set it and forget it" type tune, and I got it with the Turner Motorsports piggyback.

The install was very straightforward, there were 3 sensors in total. And the install could be a nightmare, for those with hands that are sized like a human or larger haha. But I decided to prepare, and bought a pick tool set from hardware store and that made the install easy! It literally probably took me 45 mins just because I was double and triple checking the install, and cleaning up the wiring along the car. I bet if I have a second go around I could do it in 30 mins or less.

The reason why I chose this tune is because I have heard of many issues with other tunes causing hiccups/misfires. I knew Turner wouldn't put their name on a tune that causes a bunch of issues, and call me an idiot I believed them when they said they tuned for midrange and drivability. Now I know this tune looks like many other tunes out there, and I'm sure they are all similar/same. The tune gave me power, solid reliability and the capability to switch to stock tune simply by plugging into the provided bypass plug. Ok and I will mention that the Black Friday deal Turner had with their tune + midpipe was $989. So I figured I would buy the setup and sell the midpipe, so all in all I got a $900 tune for a little under $400 .

The power is relentless! It never stops pulling, if the weather is less than 50 I can guarantee first through fourth gear could become rather useless (stock Continentals). The car is smooth, no CEL, and never gets choppy. The car never breaks up at top end of RPM. Going on and off the throttle doesn't disrupt the tune, and the pull feels OEM+. I want to say that it almost feels like any type of OEM lag that was once there, has now disappeared. It just always feels like its in the powerband, and eager to boost.

I'm happy I waited to write this out. I have now put on 2500 miles with the tune and haven't had a single issue or code pop up so far. And I've been hitting redline, driving in negative weather (-10F), and the car still drives flawless as my daily.

Active Autowerke Midpipe

First of all I didn't even want to install the damn thing. You know why? Because I wanted to hang that work of art on my wall lol. The craftsmanship, quality and fitment were spot on. The welds looked excellent, judging from my years of accumulating aftermarket parts.

The install is very easy and straightforward, but call me lazy. I got my local shop to get it done in less than a hour, so I could hit the road and make some noise. The start up whether cold or warm is nice and deep! You will not be disappointed. The car crackles, pops and backfires at all the right times. The best part is having the windows all rolled down to hear all the cool sounds the car makes now. On top of that, you have a beefy sounding straight six when on throttle and catching traction. Or you can drive like an ass like me, build boost, then let off and your rewarded with a nice THWACCKKKKkkkkkk .

I thought my review would end there, but there is more. Now I drove the car with the Turner Tune and stock midpipe for a bit, then I got the AA midpipe installed soon after. The crazy thing is the car definitely feels faster than before. This midpipe makes the car seem to boost sooner, and it paired up with the Turner tune very well.

I made a video mainly for those on the fence about exhaust mods, because AA midpipe is a no brainer. But now I'm starting to think the Turner Tune is a must haha. Now I'm posting a video, but cut me some slack. The weather sucks, so I can't do awesome rolling vids with me actually gripping. Also, I got lazy/cold and didn't want to set up the mic and camera so I used my iphone 7+. Once spring hits I will hook up my Lavalier mic and get some nice interior and exterior vids, but for now these should give you a good idea.

TL;DR = Turner Motorsports Tune + AA Midpipe =

Thanks man! I'm in love with the exhaust sound. And the tune exceeds my expectations. Haven't had a single issue/hiccup in the last 3K miles now.
