Love the upside-down 86 = 98 Octane.
And the questionable '6' sticker over whatever used to be there.

I've tried both and found that my car ran very well with PC94 and felt sluggish with Shell 91. I won't be keeping the car long enough for the effects of 10% ethanol to cause any issues with the seals. If indeed it's even a real problem.

In Hawaii, the highest we have is 92 and it sucks. From tank to tank I can feel a difference. I usually fill up at chevron but when I do, the car feels weaker than other locations but it could just be me being used to the power. Used to have 100 Race a long time ago at a local Shell station... but thats another story.

Chevron 94 in Vancouver which sucks and has no ethanol in it.

So I keep hugs if E85 at my office and mix in roughly 30% ethanol for each fill up. Also run dual cm7 nozzles for meth.

I do Petro 94 when the summer rubber is on. Then Shell 91 or Costco 91 with the winters on.

That looks like the extreme fuel is actually just 86 upside down!

my 535i with N54, still with the same injectors after recall is almost 11 yr old and been on 10% ethanol diet since new, no issue as far as longevity.

Now E85 is a different story, I read in warranty booklet, BMWNA will void any engine warranty if the fuel is tested to have more than 10% ethanol.
if you lease fire away, I bet the car is fine for 3-yr.

From what I understand, all the major gas brands (and many non major ones) all basically have identical fuel. The biggest factor, as I understand it, is how the underground tanks are maintained, if they're cleaning the tanks properly and on schedule, and how busy the station is (busier the station the higher likelihood of fresh fuel).

I look for any name brand station that has high traffic. And has 93. The shell recommendation on the bmw gas cap is a marketing ploy im sure.

I go with shell because I am brainwashed by the advertisements plus it is convenient.

I have a shell station at the end of my block, right next to my grocery store, dry cleaner and UPS store, and on the way to my gym.

It's super convenient but I recently found out that it's consistently the most expensive gas station in the whole city. So now I can't go there without feeling screwed

But at the same time any other gas station is like 5x harder to get to. What to do... 🤔

All the gas stations in Wellington are about $.30 / gallon (or more) more expensive than WPB or most other places in PB County. I’ve found the Shell stations on the Turnpike cheaper and quicker pit stops.

I fill up at Valero since it's the cheapest top tier supplier by my office.

Based on the answers it seems as if shell has done a good job marketing. Don't know if it's like this everywhere but by me all of the shell stations are consistently more expensive than any surrounding stations.

Sams was the only place that had 93 here. Now they only have 91. Other than getting Aviation fuel (hear it has lead in it?) or racing fuel for $$$ 91 is the only option and readily available at many locations.
