2017 m4 - 1200 mile service

About to hit the 1200 mile mark and ready for first service.

Can anyone outline what will happen at the service? I have heard fluid changes, etc as well as power increase.

Had mine done today. Fluids and they said a minor software update. If you have DCT that also enables launch control. I didn't notice any difference in power at all and didn't expect to.

I was hoping I was clear of the diff issue (June 16 build) and that was thankfully fixed before I bought the car. Unfortunately I am impacted by the subframe bolt issue though. They didn't have the parts so that will be another trip next week to have them replaced. I'm on mobile but there's a thread about the issues if you search. May-July build dates if I recall correctly.

Edit - just realized yours is a 2017. You won't have issues with diff/subframe.

Power increase? LMAO. Crazy how these rumors get started then perpetuated.

There in no power increase or enabling of M mode or anything silly like that. You basically get your oil changed and car is inspected and maybe some other fluids changed. That's it.

I've heard they sometimes do a transmission fluid change sometimes, but don't think it's standard procedure.

According to my service technician at my dealer, Launch Control is not enabled until the 1200 mile service flag is cleared. This isn't a power increase however.

It does, however, tell you about the 1200 miles and then some other restrictions after the next few thousand miles. I think it's free and clear after 3,500 miles, but I don't she my manual in front of me.

I think I can shed some light on how this misinformation spreads. I am currently sitting at BMW service getting my 2017 1200 mile M3 service done. I asked the technician (who has a 2015 M3) about an M performance exhaust and he replied "before you do that, just wait until you see this car after this service, it's a completely different animal." So, having read these threads I bit and said, oh yea why do you say that? He responded "oh man, during the first 1200 miles the accelerator is limited, so your going to feel a huge difference in power when this is done, just wait".

My sales rep told me that engine output will be at roughly around 80% to make sure car is properly broken in. After 2000km service, it will be opened up.

Not my words, this came from my rep.

I'm hoping this is the case. I had a blast in this car even under 5k for the last 1200 miles, if that was only 80% of its power I'm going to be pretty happy.

Your rep lied and has no clue about the car.

Like I said in my post, those were his words not mine. I pretty sure I trust seasoned forum members over my sales rep with regards to this topic since most on this board have already had their cars longer than I have since I'm on day 6 of ownership.
