Dinan Exhaust Installed

First impression is that the exhaust sounds awesome. Throaty with nice burbles on deceleration. Not overly loud (i like loud) but definitely a vast improvement over stock. Thanks to BLK235iNJ for his videos and photos. Helped seal the deal for me.

Installation was fairly straight forward and the Dinan instructions are good. I did not have a punch mark on the stock inlet pipe so i had to measure per Dinan's instructions (7 1/4 - 7 1/2 inches). I measured from behind the weld mark, against the muffler itself. That left a slight gap (no big deal) - a better measurement would have been from the backside of the weld on the inlet pipe. To correctly align the exhaust, you definitely need a second set of hands. I had a buddy push and lift the exhaust at the tips as I tightened the clamps.

Tools I used:
10mm: bolts for the actuator valve.
13mm: exhaust hanger nuts.
16mm: bolts for the clamp.
Exhaust pipe cutter (Autozone has free tool rental).
Torque wrench.
Assortment of extensions.

Would like to come up with a better method to hang the actuator valve out of the way.

Thumbs up

Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing! Fortunately, most Dinan performance parts can be installed at home and we really appreciate articles like this giving people confidence to do it themselves!

Just a thought, but those zip ties will likely break one day.
I would suggest just unplug it, cover up the connector, and tuck it away.
I hear it might throw a silent code and won't really show up on your dash.

From looking at all the videos online of the many exhausts I decided to go with the Dinan exhaust as well. Waiting on a quote from the Dealership because I will just have them install it before I pick my car up.
