Lowered on Dinan Coils...

I only did a modest drop (~5mm), but good to know that you have the option of staying pretty much at stock height.

Linear springs are very predictable throughout the suspension travel range. You definitely feel the stiffer springs. In comfort mode, it's still soft enough to manage the crappy downtown Toronto streets. In sport plus, the car has very little flex, if at all, corners flat, and no dive when breaking hard. Turn-in is much sharper and predictable. Steering feel has increased. All in all, it's a great setup, and even comes with its own suggested alignment settings. BTW: bonus is that these coils were designed for 275/30/20 and 305/30/20 wheels!

I can't wait to take it to the track. Will provide more feedback once I have. Enjoy the pics.

This looks fantastic! Great to hear the impressions are positive as well. I'm looking at the H.A.S. kit, US Eibachs and Swift springs for a mild drop. I think the H.A.S kit uses progressive springs as opposed to linear rate. I wonder if this is worth the extra money over the H.A.S.?

If you don't have EDC I would spring the extra $300-400 over Dinan for KW V3 if you were already going to make the jump to Dinan. KW generally hold resale value at about 60-70% of new as well.

If you have and want to keep EDC I would probably go with the cheaper HAS solution. I've had it on my car for 1000 miles now. After it settled it rides very nicely(I had previously reported a little floatiness but it's gone), feels nice and stiff in the corners, and I have 0 noises.

The only downfall is the HAS has less inner clearance than the Dinan, stock, or V3. So if you are going to run a 9x9.5 wheel and want to go all the way down you need to order at least a 9.5 +20. (Which I think is the perfect front fitment anyway so not a big deal but its a need to know when anyone orders their wheels)

Thanks for the reply! My plans for the car are relatively mild but sometimes they tend to become less mild as I get rolling lol I also want to retain EDC (don't have it on my e92 but want to try it out on the F80). So for those reasons, I think I'll stick with the H.A.S.

KW HAS isn't as predictable and is soft at the onset. I compared it with my buddy's car. He has HAS. Under braking, his nose would dive about half an inch before bouncing back. Mine would have zero dive. On hard acceleration, his nose also lifts quite a bit. His is also extremely noisy, squeaks at every flex of the box. he's tried everything and can't get rid of it.

Dinan kit also relocates the EDC sensor, ensuring better signal despite ride height, retain stock inner clearance as already mentioned previously, and comes with a different bump stop and top hats.

Lastly the highest setting for KW HAS is too low for me. Dinan can retain stock ride height.

I'm not advertising for Dinan. I did my research amongst all the available options that would retain EDC. Swift, Euro spec Eibach and Dinan sleeves were the only performance oriented options. If you want adjustability, then that leaves only one.

Thanks for the comparison! Could you pm me what you paid for the kit? Did you have a Dinan dealer install it or an indy shop?

+1 me too! Also what made you go with these over waiting for the swift springs which should be similar for far less $$.

Canadian pricing, very different and about 20-30% more than what you would pay. So not helpful for you. It's pretty much what's on the website. What you can bargain with is the labor rate. I had a local dealer install it for warranty purposes. I'm pretty sure a third party can do it as well. Instructions that come with the kit are pretty detailed.

HAS comes w/ new bump stops and seats too. Is the EDC cable fiber optic? Otherwise not sure why it would matter.

I recognize that HAS comes with the bump stops etc.. Was only trying to say Dinan is complete, plus the EDC sensor relocation bracket. Why? you'll have to call up Dinan to ask. I am in no in position to speculate why it would or would not matter.

I think the key takeaway here is that it's a linear spring, which is predictable and more performance oriented.

Installed, the price is really not that different (fixed labor costs). $800 was the difference for me. For that money, I get adjustability and matching warrantly on stock suspension components. Cheap optionality and insurance in my books.

A spring is a coil, so OP is correct

Not to be confused with a coil-over...

It is to be noted that Dinan does falsely call this kit a coil-over.

Looks good, however, I have never seen anyone run 275 with 305. It's a little bit of an odd combo IMO.

More so you can run tires that wide if you wanted to. Other setups, such as KW HAS, reduces clearance.
