G12 = 740i/750i, not 740Li/750Li now?

Why is the G12 named 740i/750i and not 740Li/750Li now in the US?

"Li" designation continues throughout the rest of the world.

Because the G11 isn't available in the US, no reason to make the nomenclature more confusing / less meaningful.

Should've just named the models 740/750 in-line with any objective of simplification.

7 series for the US market will only be available in long wheelbase so they decided to take out the L. It will be 740i and 750i for now.
