BMW M4 goes to Drift School (Warning! Extreme Tire Abuse Inside!) Video
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I've had my 2015 M4 6MT for over a year now and this was about the most fun I've ever had in it. I've driven it at many track days, but wanted to get a little more car control practice in, so what better way than to hang out with a drifting club. http://626drift.com Held at the Balcony at Willow Springs Raceway Brand new pair of PS2 "take offs" $107 mounted and balanced. Ready for sacrifice! Yes, I trailered the M4. Its a long drive and its so much easier to pack all your stuff and extras tires in the F250. Also, if I bend up the M4 I'm not stuck in Rosamond, CA. M5 exploded both rear tires during first session! The young eager lad brought no extras tires or gear, so we put it on jack stands. He went to town and luckily found some tires to get mounted so he could get home. My rear tires after 3 sessions: I did Streets of Willow Springs on Sunday which also was fun, luckily I had some older R888 to use for the road course. Headed home to Phoenix, AZ Sunday afternoon: Video of drifting event:

That looks like loads of fun. I'll remember not to buy your car whenever you decide to sell it though

Looks like a great time, definitely looking into doing one of these events in my m3.
How many sets of tires would you recommend bringing? I can't see myself being able to bring more than 1 other set of rear wheels/tires. I'm assuming you can't mount the tires at the track right? |

Also pay attention to your tire pressures. I suspect the M5 tires exploded partly because the pressures got too high from the heat. I dropped mine way down which probably saved me.

Yup, just takes practice, a lot of practice. Use your bum to feel the slide starting and it shall stay clean.

Looks like fun.
But I would like to do that first on a wet skid pad first.

E30 leading the advanced group
nice job on the takeoffs. This is a good way to end the season if you have autocross or track tires you want to kill or you just hate your street tires!!! Glad to see you make your donut rotations also into figure 8s a bit to keep from sloshing all the oil to one side. My biggest fear of doing all this is killing the motor. Once at a lone star chapter autocross at the end we had people having fun and wearing out their tires. A teenage driver in a camaro put on the best performance of all. He really showed us that v8 power was awesome for donuts! He raised the biggest cloud of smoke and earned our respect! Then he began to drive off the course and a loud rod knock began and he shut it down and had to call a tow truck. |

Turn on MDM and see your rear tires spin when you pin the throttle on exit! Carving a small black tread on the asphalt. Downside: Tyre replacement after 1 year. Wasteful, but still fun!
I'm not brave enough to fully disengage traction control on streets yet. So no drifting for me if I'm not on a safe racetrack. |

Op glad to see you learning. It's not that hard once you get it. Nothing better then full blown drifts before entering a turn and then sliding all the way through exit. It's slower but definitely more fun. I don't see much turning of your head though to see where you want the car to go. Reaction might be a bit slow.

Great job! Although I don't think I could take my f80 to drift school! When I think drift I think of beater cars.
Any videos of your SOW runs? Also what's your trailer setup?
