Sparta Evolution - Triton TS260X/TS240X Big Brake Systems for M3/M4

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
M.

The most legendary letter in Motorsportís history, BMWís M division has the distinction of creating some of the best performing cars the world has ever seen. Taking the already potent BMW sport sedans and turning them into touring and rally champions is what M does best, and since 1972, that pursuit of the ultimate driving machine persists today. Starting with the E30 in 1986, the M3 is one of the most successful and prolific M cars ever produced, its performance and good looks not only set the benchmark for other M cars, but for other performance sport sedans around the world. Today, the M3 sedan and its coupe sibling, the M4, continue the tradition of M by offering blistering performance and unparalleled driver feel in a slick, hi-tech, modern package.

For serious drivers of the M3 or M4 who want to go beyond what BMW offers out of the box, Sparta Evolution presents their big brake system for the F8x M3 and M4. While the factory brakes are quite adequate, they definitely show their weakness after some time on the track, through brake fade and extreme pad wear. Sparta Evolutionís Triton braking system addresses these issues to create a set of brakes that not only feel better, but are also able to withstand the conditions of hard track driving.

Sparta Evolution starts with lightweight forged aluminum calipers and American made Pegasus brake rotors for durability. The calipers are held together by ARP aircraft grade hardware, a first for the industry, and feature a clever quick-release pin for fast and speedy pad changes. Sparta Evolutionís Triton caliper design utilizes a standard FMSI pad shape so pad choices are not restricted.

In addition, the Triton caliper can be offered in different caliper and piston sizes, ranging from the small 4 ventilated pistons to the larger 6 ventilated pistons for added stopping torque and brake fade resistance. For added durability, the calipers are also finished in an anodized coating that is not only more durable, but also weighs less than a traditional powder coat.

Sparta Evolution Pegasus rotors come standard in a free floating two-piece design, front and rear. All rotor hats are and are anodized in a standard black and machined from forged billet aluminum to ensure strength and lightness. Sparta Evolutionís Pegasus rotors feature a unique s-groove pattern that provide a constant leading edge and assist in developing initial bite of the pad, their ability to channel away off gassing vapors provides more consistent control of brake torque at a variety of temperatures.

Included in the kit is a set of Goodridge brake lines, which in conjunction with the new cooling capability of the rotor and caliper makes for stellar brake feel and highly consistent braking, even under extreme conditions. Brakes shown on the Black Sapphire M3 are a set of Sparta Evolution Triton TS260X 6 piston calipers in Machine Silver with 380mm Pegasus rotors for the front. The rears receive the Triton TS240X 4 piston calipers also in Machine Silver with 380mm Pegasus rotors. The Austin Yellow M4 features Stealth Gray Sparta Evolution Triton TS260X 6 piston calipers with 380mm Pegasus rotors up front.

For its rear, it gets the Triton TS240X 4 piston calipers also in Stealth Gray with 380mm Pegasus rotors. For those who are looking to enhance perfection, Sparta Evolution Triton braking systems are an excellent addition to the BMW M3 and M4 platforms, allowing you to brake later and corner faster than ever before.

I can arrange that. Expect a build thread on both vehicles in the near future.

Great looking BBK! Very purposeful, they look like they're off a grand-am car.

How do the "tech specs" of these brakes measure against the top-of-mind brands of today? With so many choices I'm very interested to hear this new player's selling points, pedigree, etc.

Thanks EAS!

Sparta is unique in the BBK colors by choosing to anodize, rather than paint. Available choices are

- Stealth Grey
- Machine Silver
- Signature Blue

Possibly other finishes will be made available in the near future.

We've installed and driven just about every system on the market today on most BMW models throughout the years. While we've only had a short amount of street time with the Sparta Triton systems, there are a few club racers running the systems that have been very pleased with overall performance and pad choices.

ARP hardware, Goodridge lines, Standard FMSI pad shape and quick release pins for pad changes are all big advantages.

We'll be updating with our impressions once we can get some good seat time with our M4.

Pad shapes

Hi Trakbch,

The rear calipers for the F80 Kit utilize FMSI D1001 pads, which are universally available in a multitude of compounds from every pad manufacturer and are actually OEM equipment for several notable supercars.

The front calipers use standardized 6 piston pads available from all major manufacturers, while they are not FMSI pad shapes, they are available from just about every manufacturer and retailer we've come across.

Though, I obviously cannot name off all of the manufacturers and their corresponding part numbers that will fit our kits, I can tell you that our front kits come loaded with Hawk HB581B.660 HPS 5.0 pads and our rears come loaded with Hawk HB632B HPS 5.0 pads.

If you'd like to send us an email at Info@Spartaevo.com I can give you a document that will cross reference our pad shapes with those of most major performance brands so you can combine the pads you've learned to know and love with the superior engineering and weight savings of our Triton Kits.

Great braking kit! How does it compare price and performance wise to the factory optional CCB, which is the recommended braking system for track use?
