M sport suspension stiffness and ground clearance

For all of you that have this option or the entire M kit could you please let me know what ground clearance you have here:

is this M sport suspension harsh and rough?

i'm still thinking if i should get it for my e90 335d (i still can modify the options until July); the thing is that although i just test drove a 2005 330i with this kind of suspension (code 704 in Europe) and it didn't seem that stiff, i still don't know if i should get it or not; i want a small drop on the stock suspension but i don't want it to be to stiff and difficult to drive because of the lower setup....

any thoughts from current owners will be greatly appreciated

I find it ok, it can be very hard on poor surfaces at low speed.

For example when I hit a pothole it sounds as though I have damaged something!

The electric bolsters do help to hold you in (if you are thin).

The ride is firm like my previous car in a cabrio (without the scuttle shake). So when you are on rough road you must hold on to the steering.

If the roads in Bucharest are like the UK then all of the above will apply.
If they are like most of mainland western europe then you should be ok.

I have this suspension and my 'ground clearance' just behind the front wheel is 155mm on 18 inch rims.

It's a relatively firm ride, although much less harsh than the sports suspension on the e46 model. On smooth roads it's pretty fluid and refined and I only feel it's an issue when riding over potholes or drain covers.

In an average car you would hardly feel these, but with runflats and sports suspension they can be pretty crashy.

Handling is superb though, with zero body roll and excellent balance.

Personally I think it's an minimum requirement for a sporty BMW.

It does look great - i'm really glad i went for it. On normal roads theres no problem.

As eveyone else has said its the potholes and drain covers that make quite a loud thump as you roll over them

I dont know the exact drop though its not caused me a problem, i'm quite able to overhang the front on a kerb parked forwards

i really don't know what to do....i now it looks better and handles better but the roads here are very bad and i'm thinking that the stock hight setup could save the front bumper and side skirts from getting scratched;

another idea would be to get the stock suspension and then upgrade the front and rear sways with M ones to reduce body roll when cornering but to keep the stock hight and comfort, what do you think about that?

the 335d comes with sport suspension regardless of model spec.

Yep Carlos, It's only the E92 335d that gets the sport suspension as standard - and not the E90/1

It's not that big an issue in my opinion. The SE is still relatively sporty and in conjunction with the run flats can be crashy over potholes.

I would have no hesitation at all in specifying the msport suspension. I wouldn't see the point of just fitting the sway bars. You may as well get the proper kit.

The M-Sport suspension is a high quality shock made by Bilstein, it absorbs rough surfaces far better than the SE suspension, you would be mad not to have it it.

Why not buy a sport? The sport seats are the best I have had in any car, and are worth the extra alone, the SE seats are pretty poor imho.

I dont find it an issue, altho it is jarry over potholes with the 19". Ditched the runflats and its improved quite considerably

just drove my friend's 335d e92 M kitted and with 19" RFT and besides the fact that it is a beast!!!!!! the suspension felt acceptable even with 19" RFT so considering that my plan is to get 18" with non-RFT i think the choosing the M Sport Suspension would be a really good idea, am i right?
