I would love to see performance numbers with that car fitted with the 437M 19s. The 666M wheels weigh five pounds each more in the front and six pounds more each in the rear (this is comparing a 437 plus a tire compared with the 66M plus a tire). Twenty-two pounds of unsprung extra weight. The previous M4 without ZCP also had the optional ceramics as does the ZCP test car so the unsprung weight all comes down to wheels.

This is largely true but don't forget there is more tire with the 19s vs the 20s so the unsprung weight difference is somewhat lower than 22 lbs.

Weights quoted were a 437 rim plus a tire compared with a 666 plus a tire. Tires were Michelin PSS for both.

Just goes to show day, driver, and conditions really matter. Oddly the top car here seems faster in everything except for rolling 5-60.

The key thing from the article is the added feel of the CP. Thats why its worth the upgrade IMO but probably not for everyone.

And I'm just noticing you clearly said "plus a tire" in your original post. I'm off to the optometrist

Bmw needs to offer some 19s exclusive to the Comp Pack.

The best time an e92 recorded to 60 was 3.9, just a tenth off.

I do like this car, but I fail to see how it's an improvement upon the e9x.

The fastest E9X M3 C&D ever tested below. Just look at the speeds above 60mph. The F8X just leaves the E9X in its wake .

We do not have much sampling yet, but I figure, on average, the CP will be ever so slightly faster than a non-CP. However, I still think the difference will be rather minute. As shown on the data here, the difference between a CP and non-CP acceleration in well within test variance. 19hp over 425hp is not a huge amount.

Form the majority of reviews (journalists and owners), it does seem the CP "feels" much better than the non-CP, and just that can make it well worth it.

Some of these new big v8 trucks are like rockets as well, that can really surprise you on the road. It's crazy!

Since we are talking acceleration here, unsprung mass is practically irrelevant. What is important is rotating mass. The mass factor of a 19"~20" wheel-tire assembly can be estimated at 1.7~1.8x, hence the effective mass addition of the 666M over the 437M is less than 40lb. Less than the difference between the CF roof and the moonroof. Every bit counts, but I seriously doubt this would make a meaningful difference in the results of the test in the OP.
