24 years old i picked up my M3. Now, 26, have both the X5M and the M3.

As far as waiting, yes part of me wishes i waited. I have a problem now that i probably will have a difficult time driving any 'basic' car again. Even driving a fully loaded 340 M sport loaner left me feeling empty.

I also work really hard for myself, so not a trust fund baby either. I see how we need to justify that sometimes...

Haha, I felt the same driving my mom's old Merc around for a day. Hopefully the F80 doesn't spoil me too much. GL with all your other future purchases! You're still incredibly young and doing very well for yourself if you're driving those!!

might help to ask who "bought" their first M car, not including leases. Many young people can pay monthly on this car, but not many can pull the trigger on a finance, or a buy out. I've leased my first M at 26, and purchased the f80 at 29.

Yes, that's originally what I was actually aiming for. Financing excluding members who leased their first M. I guess a lot of people consider it the same thing, so it doesn't bother me

I'm turning 30 in January and wanted to buy myself a birthday present - in no way is this a midlife crisis deal. I just really love the bodystyle of the current M3s and have always wanted to own/drive one. I work hard for my money and am not a trust fund baby.

Looking to gather some insight across the forum on the age range everyone purchased their first M3. Was it too early/late? If you bought one early on in life, if you had the chance to do it again, would you have waited? Thanks in advance you beautiful people.

That really is irrelevant. A person who "purchased" their car has no more ownership than the person who leased. Until that final payment is made, the finance company owns that car, not YOU. It doesn't matter if you purchased outright from the beginning or chose to lease first, gauge your investment/desire to keep the car after 3 years, and then refinance the remaining amount and keep the car. We all have to go through the same credit approval process, so you're not better than anybody else who chose to lease. Leasing is often the smartest choice for many people, especially when write-offs, the desire to always have a newer car under warranty, etc. are factored in.

...because they are! The only fundamental difference is that the person who leases has a built in "out" at the halfway point should they become unhappy with their purchase or desire something different. If your income and credit were sufficient enough to be approved to purchase the car and you signed on the dotted line, you bought that car.............period! Save the self-righteousness.

P.S. Yes I have leased M's in the past. No, I didn't lease this particular M4.
