Hmmmmm

Twenty eight grand for a software update, Competition Pack II handling improvements, a trick bonnet, spoiler and diffuser, a weaker stereo, cloth door pulls and less sound deadening? Am I missing something? As far as I can see, that makes a CS badge worth about £18K

Why? This is a slower car.

The reason the reviews are better is it's being billed as a better M4 and not a GT3 killer. It's all about managing expectations.

'Ring lap time now stated by BMW at 7:35 for the M4CS. That's only 7 seconds off the pace of the M4GTS. Not bad...
Note: Factory to Factory times

I just find the CS and GTS a tough pill to swallow when they are just as pricey as a nicely equipped P-Car

Like the wheels, but it's well overpriced. Ridiculous racing style straps for the doors and then still those heavy weight seats inside... i think starting with a "normal" CP and some nice after market parts would get a better result in terms of price and performance...

Nicely equipped, as in 4 wheels and a radio?

There's an upper price limit for M4.x. They are very, very good, and $60k-80k cars. They are not $100k+ cars.

Amen - The moment you go into P-Car territory, it will never stack up.

Carrera S starts at $105K, Carrera GTS at $120K...

I understand you're being facetious; but atleast be accurate.

Porsche's base prices become a distant memory once you start talking "nicely equipped".

Example, add base leather seats, PDK, and CCBs (things that are standard on the M4 CS) and the C2S is quickly up over $120k.

Not trying to turn this into a versus thread, so that's it from me.

Per autocar article, CS doesn't come with CCB standard

Ah, right you are. Standard on the GTS though.
