ASR Intake for E9x M3 ?!?!?

I've heard that ASR would be coming out with an intake for our M3s...has anyone heard this or can anyone confirm whether it is true or not!!

Where is Dinan with theirs already?

ASR is making intake scoops not an intake... yet. It should be out in 2 weeks and the dyno numbers are pretty sweet. Gains of 10 rwhp peak, and their exhaust is coming out. If the exhaust is anything like the one for the M5, which it will be, expect gains around ~15 wheel, as it is header back. Oh, and their nitrous system of course Here is the dyno for the scoops:

Any pics of the scoops, or any idea what they might cost?...

That's some pretty impressive gains for just air scoops. I'm kind of surprised it showed up on a dyno, because the car is stationary. Figured would need to be moving for the air scoops to be forcing air into the engine.

They will just be more impressive at higher speeds, a fan can only do so much on the dyno. The scoops are a proven mod on the M5/M6 and 335's.

What is really impessive is the gains in almost 100 degree weather. In the winter these scoops will be deadly as far as bang for the buck mods.

Good idea, I suppose. Cooling should not be effected, that much. But on a hot track day....I dunno!

For the 996 GT3, you could buy "scoops" for the intake. The 997 GT3RS has these stock. Supposedly good for 10+ hp at and above freeways speeds. Same should hold tru for our cars I would guess.

Nice to see people being innovative! I await some real world testing...and hopefully some hot track day testing!

Ok guys,

I spoke with ABID (owner of ASR ENGINEERING)...the scoops will be ready to ship next week, I pre-ordered mine. I asked about the intake as well, and it is being planned right now. Hopefully, we will see something in the next month or so. It is not going to be like the GRUPPE M intake (as the GRUPPE M is primarily the exact same as the stock intake, but in CF)

His intake will be much like their E60 M5 intake, which gave some incredible gains and looks great as well!!

Just wait until they release their real cold air intake, and you will hopefully be able to use the scoops still. and then we will see some serious gains!!

One question, do you think the scoops would cause more water to enter the intake? Being in front of the radiator, water can hit it and then scoop up into the intake. If so would this cause any potential issues?

Absolutley not, the stock intakes have points in which the water is drained or let out before it enters the engine.

Think about it like this, the engine scoop (1 of the 3 inlets for our stock intake) water can go in there all the time, (when it rains, when you wash the car etc..) but no water gets into the engine!

If they do an intake like for the M5 then the scoops will be useless with it.

Ya...thats very true! but if they did do something similiar to the stock airbox or the Gruppe M setup, then the scoops would still be useful!

So safe to infer that the scoops would work with the Gruppe M?
