great pics of some beautiful machinery, and look at that e90 just sitting there waiting to be massaged by Alpina .. |

alpina would not work on a four-cylinder e90.
i think this is only the private car of an employee.

But of course Alpina will build an automobile based on the E90 (they´re a manufacturer, not a tuner, so no "massaging" of an E90 will take place). So when they start rolling in an empty E90 chassis (not a finished car), you´ll know they´re up to something. |

i hope alpina does something good for the e90 and not what they did on the bmw z8 which was worse than the original version of the z8

I lost all respect for alpina when they released the Alpina Roadster. It was a dawn of tuning brilliance:
Step 1: Remove M-Power motor; replace with smaller unit of less output Step 2: Remove 6 Speed transmission; replace with 5 speed automatic. |

The Alpina Z8 was simply a version BMW was not willing to build but some were quite happy to have. It´s actually nicer and easier to drive than the BMW Z8 (so people who´ve driven both say) and actually faster than the BMW. On the autobahn (no speed limiter) AND on the track (better handling / setup) despite having less power and a more relaxed setup. That tells you more about the competence of Alpina than anything else. Don´t go by pure power specs or you´ll never get what an Alpina is about. It´s actually a very interesting company. And even the Z8 makes sense once you´ve understood it´s not a "tuned" BMW Z8 but a very different car.

but they sold 555 of these automatic Z8 within a production time of 16 months.
they used another engine because it has more torque than the M5-V8. Alpina wanted to offer an alternative for the drivers who wanted a z8 with an automatic gearbox. actually they only met some peoples demand - that´s their business. Alpina isn´t a tuner like AC Schnitzer or Hartge. Alpina is a car manufactor. They always try to find the best compromise between comfort and speed - and that is what they can do like no one else.

Alpina's E60 get major blacks mark in Autocar this week, when compared with the 535d and M5. Judging by their website they may now be more interested in making wine!

Anyone knows where to get the ones in the silver e90? I want the replica in 19". It doesn't seem to be popular. Ebay is selling the replica for crazy prices. Thanks in advance.

I visited Ekris (one of the biggest BMW and Alpina dealer networks in the Netherlands) in Nijkerk yesterday and they had a 320d with the sports package ("Dynamic Executive" in NL) and 19" Alpina Classic wheels in the showroom. The car looked agressive but also very stylish. Absolutely stunning! I am seriously thinking about getting the 19" Alpina Classics instead of the stock 162 wheels.
The price for the wheels is € 3700 including run flat tires. |
